The event was designed to guide twelfth-grade(K12) students from the Mergasor district/the Barzan area in successfully completing their university application forms.
The workshop commenced with an opening address delivered by Asst.Prof.Dr. Talib M. Omer, Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute. In his remarks, he welcomed the participants and emphasized that the primary objective of the workshop was to support grade 12 students by providing clear guidance on their academic transition to higher education. Following his speech, professor Omer delivered a presentation that traced the trajectory of student life from primary school through secondary education and highlighted the challenges students often encounter at the threshold of university life.
He also extended his gratitude to the advisory and technical teams of the Institute, who voluntarily provide annual assistance to post-secondary students, particularly in the areas of academic advising and proper completion of application forms.
Subsequently, Mr. Dilêr Ahmad Abdullah, Head of the General Registry at Erbil Polytechnic University, conducted a seminar focusing on the procedures for filling out the online application form. He explained the evaluation criteria and clarified the mechanisms of student admission and programs based on the previous year’s academic results across universities, colleges, and institutes in the Kurdistan Region.
In the second session, Mr. Karez Abdulwahhab Hamad, Head of the Information Technology Unit at Mergasor Technical Institute, delivered a detailed and systematic presentation on the Zankoline system, outlining its guidelines, functions, and procedural steps in a scientific and practical manner.
Following the workshop, the Institute’s Zankoline Committee initiated the process of assisting students in completing their application forms. During this stage, Mr. Abdullah and his accompanying delegation visited the committee, engaged with students and their families, and discussed academic grades and departmental choices.
