About Institute

Koya Technical Institute was established in 1996 under the order of Presidency Council of Ministers No.: (2713) on (20-07-1996) but due to the situation at that date student admission postponed for the year (1997).

In the study year (1997-1998) both (Nursing and Office Administration) departments welcomed students.

After that, for the study year (1998-1999) two new departments were opened (Accounting and Community Health). (Law Administration) department opened for the study year (1999-2000). For the study year (2000-2001) the department of (Medical Lab Technology) was opened. The department of (Anesthesia) was opened in the study year (2006-2007).

The department of (Tourism Foundation Administration) was transferred from Dokan Technical Institute to Koya Technical Institute according to the order of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presidency of Foundation of Technical Education.

In the study year (2009-2010) first petroleum technology department (Chemical Analyzing) was opened. In the study year (2010-2011) the department of (Anesthesia) changed to (Radiology). For the study year (2012-2013) the department of petroleum technology (Operation and Control) opened.

In the study year (2016-2017) the department of (Information Technology) opened.

For the study year (2018-2019) the departments of (Nursing and Medical Lab Technology) opened in Taq Taq. The department of (Business Administration) opened in Taq Taq for the study year (2021-2022). Department of (Midwifery) opened for the study year (2020-2021). Koya Technical Institute affiliate to Erbil Polytechnic University and it consists of (11) departments. Since (2009) the evening study opened except the years (2014,2015). During the last (22) years (12024) student were graduated in this Institute from different specializations.

Building the institute on a bright foundation to be at the forefront of advanced scientific institutions in Kurdistan, Iraq and abroad to provide educational services and highly professional multidisciplinary skills in accordance with the policy of technical education and future requirements in order to build Kurdistan and improve the scientific level of administrative institutions in the country.
