Petroleum Technology / Operation and Control Department

Petroleum Technology / Operation and Control Department

Belonging to the first-class discipline of oil and natural gas industry, Petroleum processes aims to foster professional talents for the petroleum industry. Oil and gas field development is to set up reasonable development projects and practice exploitation and production on oil and gas fields. During the program students will learn various core courses related to petro physics, well drilling, oil reservoir and production.

Petroleum technology – operation and control Department is being started from Academic year 2013.
The objective behind this program is to impart knowledge to the young minds that can be skilled manpower for oil and gas industry.

Objectives

  1. To create centers and institutions of excellence for imparting state of the art education, training and research in the fields of science, technology and management in general and in relation to the domains of oil, gas and energy in particular.
  2.  To create capabilities for development of knowledge, skills and competencies as a core academic goal
  3.  To create capabilities for upgrading the infrastructure to global standards for education, training and research in the areas related to energy, management and liberal studies.
  4.  To develop patterns of teaching and training at various levels of education accomplishment so as to set a high standard of education in energy, engineering, management and liberal studies.
  5.  To establish close linkages with industries to make teaching, training and research at the institute relevant to the needs of the society at national and global levels.

General Learning Outcomes (GLO):

  1. Theories of genesis of crude oil (Organic and Inorganic theory)
  2. Theoretical back ground about refining processes.
  3. Hydrocarbons and non-hydrocarbons compounds, classification of crude oil according to type and also by some characterization methods.
  4. Crude oil products and its physical and chemical properties.

Program Learning Outcome (PLO)

  1. Importance of heavy Oil in our life.
  2. Importance of lubricating oil.
  3. Study physical and chemical prosperities of heavy oil products.
  4. Methods of improvement of heavy oil products quality.
  5. Knowledge about chemical composition of heavy oil products.
  6. Role of additives in improving heavy oil products.
  7. Evaluate quality of crude oil.
  8. Evaluate characteristics of oil and gas through laboratory experiments and the use of different techniques.
  9. Laboratories for chemical analysis and evaluation of oil products.

Minimum requirements for graduation programs include:

Degree from an accredited university with a GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.00 scale (60% or more)
