A scientific panel discussion was held at Mergasor Technical Institute on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, in the presence of Assist.Prof. Talib Mohammed Sharif Omer, Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute; Prof. Dr.Idris Mohammed Tahir Harki, President of Erbil Polytechnic University; and Dr. Khanzad Ahmad, Secretary General of the High Council for Women and Development.

The event, organized by Mergasor Technical Institute, was entitled “Protection of Tree Heritage in Kurdistan: The Barzan Region as a Case Study.” The program commenced with a welcoming address delivered by Dr. Talib Mohammed Sharif Omer, Dean of the Institute highlighted the significance of Climate Change and the role of academic Institutions in reducing the impact of climate change Climate Change on Trees.

Subsequently, Prof. Idris Mohammed Tahir Harki, President of Erbil Polytechnic University, and Mr. Hakim Tele, Deputy Supervisor of the Soran Independent Administration, delivered speeches highlighting the historical, environmental, and cultural significance of trees in Kurdistan, with particular emphasis on the Barzan region.

This was followed by the scientific panel discussion entitled “Protection of Forest Heritage in Kurdistan: The Barzan Region as a Case Study.” The panel was moderated by Mr. Abdulrahman Ali Mohammed, an expert in public policy formulation and strategic planning. The panelists included Prof. Hadar Sayed Faizi, Head of the Department of Environment at the University of Duhok; Dr. Hardi Kakakhan Aula, Lecturer at the College of Agriculture, Salahaddin University; and Mr. Fakhr Mullah Ali.

In addition to the academic discussions, the program featured poetic contributions. Poet Hazim Blayi recited two of his own poems, followed by a recitation of a poem by the renowned artist Kazim Koyi, presented by Ivan Sardar, a student from the Nursing Department at Mergasor Technical Institute.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the panel moderator and panelists, in recognition of their valuable contributions.

The Quality Assurance Directorate of Erbil Polytechnic University conducted a workshop for new teachers.

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, the Quality Assurance Department of Erbil Polytechnic University conducted a workshop at Campus 1 of the University Presidency specifically for faculty members who had recently attained their academic titles. The objective of this

event was to instruct the faculty on the completion of the academic staff form and the navigation of the quality assurance process. This presentation was delivered by three academic facilitators: Professor Dr. Khaleel Hassan Younis, Assistant Professor Dr Hemin Kakakhan Ullah, and Mr Kamal Mohammad. During the workshop,

attendees were introduced to the specialized software employed at Erbil Polytechnic University for the managing of academic personnel affaiers and quality assurance initiatives. This initiative will help teachers organize their work efficiently and in line with modern standards, ensuring the smooth operation of the university’s quality assurance process.

A delegation from the Rwanga Organization visited the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University.

Today was Sunday, dated 14/12/2025. Prof. Dr. Edrees Mohammed Taher Harki, Rector  of Erbil Polytechnic University, received a high-level delegation from the Rwanga Organization, headed by Mr. Issa Basharati, Head of the Rwanga Secretariat for Education, along with a staff member from the organization, who paid a visit to the university presidency.

Alongside the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Azad Hassan, Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asnagar, Vice rector  for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, as well as Mr. Bahzad Hilmi Akreyi, Director of the rector’s Office, were present at the reception.

The main purpose of the meeting was to establish strong and effective coordination between the university and the Rwanga Organization in order to implement programs aimed at developing and enhancing the capacities of university students in various fields.

The Rector of the University expressed the university’s support for the efforts of the Rwanga Organization and showed readiness for joint cooperation in the interest of students and the advancement of the higher education sector in the Kurdistan Region.

Erbil Polytechnic University always placed great importance on such joint activities and considered them part of the university’s vision to build a strong bridge of communication between the academic environment and the private sector and non-governmental organizations, as such programs played a key role in preparing, developing, and enhancing the capacities of university students in various fields.

The College of Technology and the Technical College of Computer Engineering and Informatics at Erbil Polytechnic University, in coordination with Valencia Polytechnic University, are holding an international conference.

On Wednesday, 3/12/2025, in an energetic academic atmosphere, Erbil Polytechnic University, in partnership with Valencia Polytechnic University, announced the start of the activities of the International Conference on Innovation in Industry and Technology (ICITI 2025) at Campus 1.

This scientific event, which continued until December 4, took place under the supervision of Prof. Dr.Edrees Mohammed Tahir Harki, the Rector of the University, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Kihan Zrar Ghafoor, the Dean of the College of Technology. The Governor of Erbil, Dr. Omed Khoshnaw, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Amir Chali, and the President of the Erbil Provincial Council, Dr. Ali Rashid, along with a number of university council members, party representatives, teachers, staff, and students attended the event.

The conference was described as a strategic platform for connecting the education sector with the labor market and modern technology.

The conference was not just an ordinary gathering; rather, it served as a dynamic space that combined the experiences of leading academics with the perspectives of business leaders and government representatives.

Its main goal was to discuss the latest industrial developments and shape a new roadmap for advancing the technology sector in the Kurdistan Region, so that through intensive dialogue and the exchange of ideas, opportunities for innovation and joint cooperation in the region could be expanded.
