On Thursday, the 2nd of November, 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, received a delegation from the General Secretariat of Al-Ataba Al-Husseinia Al- Muqadasa Center for Translation and Cultural Communication.
In a meeting where Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the Director of the International Relations Office was present, the guest delegation presented several important books and articles as gifts to our university that were translated into the Kurdish language, and included topics related to ethics, religion and other topics. The Rector thanked the delegation and expressed his pleasure for their work.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that the named center visits the Erbil Polytechnic University.
On Sunday, the 29th of October, 2023, a workshop on Bologna Process and ECTS System was held at the Soran Technical College under the title (The Changes in the Bologna Process and Database Implementation Process of Erbil Polytechnic University).
In the workshop, Ms. Pakistan Mohammed Amin Yousef, the Dean of the Soran Technical College, the Dean Assistant, several heads of departments and heads of registration and quality assurance departments of the Soran Technical College, Choman Technical Institute, and Mergasur Technical Institute were present. The Bologna Process and ECTS System Committees, Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar, the Chairman of the Bologna High Committee; Dr. Diler Abdullah and two members of the database committee Mr. Diyar Jamal, Mr. Goran Maghdid (for 4 hours) presented the latest developments and progress of both systems to the audience and teachers.
It is worth mentioning that the chairman and members of the Bologna committees and the ECTS system explained the new steps and new guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Within the framework of the workshop, the university database committee presented the technical errors of previous years to the heads of departments and teachers and highlighted the new changes in the system and the latest additions to the system that will be available for this academic year.
Finally, the door of discussion and suggestions was opened for the participants and their questions were answered.
The first graduation ceremony of Mergasor Technical Institute (Class of 2023) was held under the slogan of “Resistance and Self-Building”.
The graduation ceremony of the first round of students of Mergasor Technical Institute was held today with the participation of Mr. Mala Mustafa Masoud Barzani and a number of senior government officials.
At the end of the ceremony, the graduates of the first round of the institute were awarded by Mr. Mala Mustafa Barzani. The staff and students thanked Mr Barzani for his continuous support to the institute.
Today, Thursday, the 26th of October, 2023, under the supervision of the Prime Minister Mr. Masrour Barzani the first job fair for graduates of Erbil Polytechnic University today was opened. This is the first time such an exhibition has been opened in public universities in the Kurdistan Region.
In the opening ceremony Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Abdulfattah Abdulrazzaq, the Deputy Minister of the Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Amir Chali, the Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, members of the University Council, Mr. Hazhar Othman, The Head of the Aso District, Ms. Shirin Khalid, the Head of the Ainda District, Mr. Nechirvan Kalari, the Secretary of the Kurdistan Students Union and a large number of teachers and students were present.
At the beginning, the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the Job Fair, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Vice Rector for the Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, delivered a speech and said: We are very pleased to attend the opening ceremony of the first job fair specialized for our university graduates. With the participation of 40 private sector companies, we would like to thank each of the companies that showed their willingness to participate in the exhibition, especially those companies that participated as sponsors.
We would like to thank the Couter Company for helping us to train an academic staff on the mechanisms and methods of preparing for our exhibition, as well as preparing a booklet in three languages: Kurdish, English, and Arabic. The university should play a role in developing the skills of its graduates and should be in constant contact with them to conduct training and provide them with job opportunities
Fortunately, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Government has paid special attention to this issue and now at the request of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Career Development Directorate (CDC) is activated The task of this department will be to have continuous contact with the graduates, as well as provide them with vocational training opportunities and job fairs.
Job fairs should be provided annually for graduates and companies and institutions should be invited to build bridges of communication with graduates regarding job vacancies work on it The university should continue to work with companies and institutions on the clinic.
