Erbil Polytechnic University As Supporter Participated In Second International Conference on Education And Teaching

On Sunday 8th of May, 2022, the second international conference of Scientific Education and Teaching (ICET 2022) by several national and international establishments in collaboration with the Erbil Polytechnic University started its work.

The Mergasur Technical Institute Dean Dr. Talib Mohammed Sharif as the EPU Representative on “Learner Autonomy: Theories and Practices,” participated in the conference. In friendly teamwork, the EPU Representative with 39 other spokespeople from 29 different institutions delivered their subjects that were about education and teaching. The attendees were about 5000 people who registered from 66 different countries.

On the 9th of May 2022 at 1:00 PM, our university representative presented a topic about “Learner Autonomy: Theories and Practices” at the conference in which 155 lecturers, researchers, and academic people participated in several different countries.

About the Conference:

The International Conference on Education & Teaching in K-12 Schools (ICET) is a joint educational event organized by Sterling Schools, Cambridge University Press, City & Guilds, GEMS Education, and UK Teachers Academy. It intends to promote education and contribute to the development of the schools and teachers’ professional development in Iraq and KRI. ICET brings together teacher trainers, educational experts, and community leaders from the national and international communities.

ICET is being organized for the second time in 2022. Presentations in ICET are delivered in three languages: English, Arabic, and Kurdish.

The ICET 2022 Conference is arranged under the supervision of the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Region Government and the Ministry Of Education support in Iraq. Also, the British Embassy in Iraq and British Consulate General Erbil support this conference, and the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC) is the leading conference partner.

The ICET conference was held in association and support of 24 national universities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including the Erbil Polytechnic University and three international institutions (London University, Character Organizer, and Broadlands Academy) that formally support the ICET Conference 2022.

ICET 2022 is a virtual event that brings together speakers and audiences from various locations. Presentations will be delivered virtually on the video conference platform. Its theme is “Empowering Schools in Preparing Students with Real Life Skills”.

Rectorship Handover Ceremony of University Rector at Erbil Polytechnic University Has Been Accomplished

The official handover of the University Rector at Erbil Polytechnic University is done between the Asst. Prof Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani and the new Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Mohammed Harki on the 9th of May 2022 at the Celebration Hall of the Erbil Polytechnic University Presidency. During this celebration, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Deputy Dr. Abdulfatah Abdulrazaq, the Salahadin University Rector, the General Directors, the university academic and administrative staff were present.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and outstanding achievements of the previous EPU Rector. He said he dedicated a part of his life to serving the university and the higher education sector development in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the sustainable development in the Erbil Polytechnic University during his work. For this reason, the Minister asked him to cooperate with the new Rector to implement his duty and responsibility in his work period.

Furthermore, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research wished to succeed and sustain the new EPU Rector and said: “We will collaborate and support you to enhance the scientific projects and develop the university in all fields.

Then, the EX University Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani presented his statement. He talked about the university’s works and activities and said: “the progress the EPU witnessed during my work is not only due to my work product, but also because of our team work including the University Council Members, directors, academic and administrative staff who dedicated their time and efforts to together accomplish the sustainable development we made in the EPU. Here, I express my warm gratitude towards them. Finally, I congratulate Dr. Idris Mohammed Harki and wish him succeed. I will promise him that I will collaborate with him to more develop the university.”

Later, the new university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Mohammed Harki delivered a speech. He welcomed the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Deputy, the Salahadin University Rector, the Higher Education, Scientific Research Divan General Directors, and the guests. He expressed he thanked them for their participation in the ceremony.” In the detail of his statement, His Excellency Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Harki talked about his plans as the new university Rector to achieve further development in the university. He mentioned his successful works during his work in the university for forty years, from the pre graduation stage till he became a university lecturer. He served the higher education field by implementing several administrative and academic positions essential to reaching the university Rector position. In another part of his speech, the university Rector said: “We will try our best to continue what the EPU gained till now. We will work effortlessly in every academic and administrative field to raise and enhance the university ranking.” In the last part of his words, the EPU Rector wished success for the old Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani in his upcoming work position and life.

Shaqlawa Technical College Fulfills Two Training Courses

On Tuesday 26th of April 2022, the Shaqlawa Technical College completed the training course “Animal Protection and Transformed Diseases” and Training Analysis “Antibiotics and Bacteria Sensitivity against Antibiotics and Its Risks” that were opened by the Veterinary and Disease Analysis Departments.

In a ceremony, the Shaqlawa Technical College Dean Dr. Abdulkhaliq Nader, Dean Deputy Mr. Mohammed Jamal, Guests, and official members of Governmental Institutions of the Shaqlawa District were available; the certificates were given to both training courses attendees.

The training continued for six days that were supervised by the Veterinary and Disease Analysis Departments of the Shaqlawa Technical College. Ninety employees of the Shaqlawa border and lecturers of the Shaqlawa Education Directorates participated in the training, 37 participants attended “Animal Protection and Transformed Diseases,” and the other 53 participants participated in the “Antibiotics Bacteria Sensitivity against Antibiotics and Its Risks.” The participants were from the Shaqlawa Health Directorate, The Shaqlawa Agriculture Directorate, and the Shaqlawa Veterinary Center.

Erbil Technical Engineering College Opens A Training Course For Lecturers

The Civil Engineering Department of the Erbil Technical Engineering College opened a training course about “Total Station Application in Civil Engineering Works.” that continued for three weeks (Two days a week) from 10/04/2022 to 25/04/2022. Ten Erbil Technical Engineering College lecturers participated in this training course in which the lessons were presented practically.

Four lecturers supervised the training course lessons who were Asst. Prof. Mr. Salar Khidher Hussein, Mr. Kamal Yassin Abdullah, Ms. Dilvin Hassan Omer, and Mr. Hoger Himdad, who in detail talked about the importance and the way of using total station instruments in the engineering works, projects, and lectures. Then, the participated lecturers implemented them practically.

Furthermore, the collected data from the stations were sent by the total station instrument to the Civil 3D program to design the roads. The training course attendees took great information, and after fulfilling the course, they received the participation certificate.
