A Delegation of Kurdistan Regional Government Participates in Annual International Conference of International Non-Governmental Organization SPARK

A delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) consisted of Asst. Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki Erbil Polytechnic Rector, Dr. Hemn Mirani, General Director of the Interior Ministry Divan, and Dr. Muhamad Kalari, the General Director of the Supervision and Quality Assurance in the Ministry of the Higher Education and Scientific Research attended the ninth edition of the SPARK International Organization Annual Conference “Reimagine Jobs.

The international non-governmental organization SPARK presented the ninth edition of its annual IGNITE Conference on Monday, the 13th of September 2022, in Amsterdam. The conference attracted entrepreneurs, NGOs, governments, policy-makers, incubators, philanthropists, and over 40 organizations from across fragile and conflict-affected regions of the Middle East and Africa. The international non-governmental organization SPARK formally invited the KRG delegation.

The Annual IGNITE International Conference is a worldwide event focusing on job creation for youths, women, and refugees in emerging economies. The organizers from the Dutch international development NGO, SPARK, chose this year’s theme, “Reimagine Jobs,” because of the multiple intersectional problems facing youth today. 

In 2019, Erbil Polytechnic University signed an agreement with the international non-governmental organization SPARK to implement a program for migrants, poor people, and university alums to develop human resources to help them gain job opportunities.

Erbil Polytechnic University, the partner in implementing the SPARK projects in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region jointly with SPARK, opened many training courses in capacity building and leadership for our university alums and refugees.

Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Offers Honorary Certificate to Qualified Teachers

On Monday, the 12th of September 2022, the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, offered gratitude and appreciation of the University Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, to the Qualified Teachers in the Quality Assurance Process at the Erbil Technical Engineering College.

In the ceremony, where the Erbil technical Engineering College Dean and the Quality Assurance Director of the EPU Presidency were available, Dr. Nageb Toma Bato presented the Congratulation and Thankful Statement of the University Rector to the Qualified Teachers in the three measurements (Continuous Academic Development (CAD), Teacher’s Portfolio, Student’s Feedback) of Quality Assurance Process in the Erbil Technical Engineering College and Erbil Technical Administration College.

 

THERMODYNAMIC EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF SOLAR WATER HEATING SYSTEM IN ERBIL CITY

  • This study determined the thermal analysis of solar water heating system (SWHS) for Erbil
    city. SWHS is adorable system for receiving and saving energy. Solar energy is one of the
    most important sources of renewable energy and gets great useful energy. Erbil city is
    considered a suitable place to receive solar global irradiance energy, reasonable solar
    intensity is available during the year. The characteristics of the SWHS includes (flat plate
    solar collector, hot water storage tank unmixed fluid (reservoir) with heat exchangers,
    working fluid through the pipes and tubes, water pump system and loading zone that is
    greenhouse). This study describes the evaluation of the optimum performance and
    determine the parameters of SWHS for Erbil (36.19 N Latitude, 44 E Longitude) climate
    conditions during summer season, the installed system based on winter months and
    (collector tilt angle) to get the highest total solar insolation during winter. The results
    demonstrated the optimum performance of each parameter respectively for the (total global
    irradiance, outlet collector temperature, the optimum collector efficiency, the amount of
    useful heat gains from the working fluid (water) through the solar collectors and heat
    transfer rate for loading zone) from the solar water heating system has been investigated by
    experimentally study data. The results show that the optimum performance during the test
    duration is a global irradiance with 630 W/m2
    , outlet collector temperature is 69.5 ℃, the
    optimum value of collector efficiency 0.93, the amount of useful heat gains is 10.238 kW
    and heat transfer rate for loading zone 7.56162 kW. In addition, an exergy analysis the
    optimum exergy analysis for the flat plate solar collector is about 3.56kW, the optimum
    exergy analysis for the storage tank is about 3.56kW, the optimum exergy rate for loading
    zone is about 0.86kW, the exergy efficiency of the solar collector is about 7.3% with energy
    and exergy analysis is used to investigate system performance of the as shown results. The
    first law of thermodynamic and the second law of thermodynamic are used for that. Energy
    is calculated to measure the quantity but exergy is calculated to measure the quality of
    energy performance. Exergy is a period to get beneficial energy that can be get more useful

    or suitable energy principle. In the solar energy system great significance has been placed
    on the expansion of active solar energy systems which involves the combination of several
    sub-systems: flat plate solar collectors, hot water storage tank with heat exchangers unmixed
    fluid, working fluid through the pipes or tubes and loading zone (greenhouse). The major
    component of the active close systems is the solar collector involves of flat plate solar
    collectors that is fixed on the top floor of Erbil Research Building Center of Kurdistan region

Dear University Council Members,

Dear my colleague lecturers,

Dear Academic and Administrative Staff,

Dear the University Students…

I am glad and so proud to receive you at the beginning of the New Year study (2022-2023), in which I perceive more fruitful and significant works from you to reach the targets that all of us gathered for inside the university environment.

At the Erbil polytechnic university, we work to develop all university programs, such as the University Administration, to improve the education results by using high-quality standards that the international universities use to upgrade the level of the academic and technical staff.

I want to tell our respectful lecturers: that our society expects great things from you; this is why I ask you to feel responsible towards your careers. Stay humble with your students, take their hands towards science and knowledge zone, and balance between paternity mercifulness and education process and study consciousness.

I also want to ask our students to focus on their studying and stay aware as learning needs awareness and great effort. You need to take care of culture and participate in developing our country because the future of our country depends on you and the society’s progress.

Furthermore, I would like to thank the technical and administrative staff for their hard work and cooperation with lecturers in creating a comfortable ground for receiving the new study year.

Finally,  I hope that this year becomes a year for developing the Kurdistan Region in all fields, especially in academic and scientific fields.
