Today, 9/12/2025, the ministerial committee responsible for reviewing the methods and procedures of students’ practical training in the public and private sectors held its third and final meeting. The meeting took place at Akre University for Applied Sciences and was an important step to complete the process of simplifying the guidelines.
The committee was formed at the ministry level and was chaired by Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asnagar, Vice rector of Erbil Polytechnic University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies. It included representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Dler Abdullah (Head of the General Registration Department at Erbil Polytechnic University), assistants of the rector of the region’s polytechnic universities (Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Garmian, Erbil, and Akre), and several representatives of private institutes.
Today’s meeting continued the discussions and workshops that were held earlier at Sulaymaniyah and Erbil Polytechnic Universities. Participants discussed in detail the guidelines of summer and practical training, aiming to revise and simplify them and to create a new and better procedure.
The goal of this simplification was to organize the practical training process in public and private institutions in a way that matched university realities, student numbers, and labor market needs. This helped students develop and improve their practical skills and expertise in their fields.
At the end, the meetings resulted in preparing a detailed draft that served the educational process and the implementation of practical training in colleges and institutes. It was expected that this proposal would be approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and implemented in the future.
Our university always gave great importance to such scientific and academic activities that aimed to raise the scientific and practical level of students and develop their skills, especially in practical and specialized fields, to prepare a capable generation that met labor market needs.
