On Monday, the 10^th of October 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki received the Knowledge University Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kayhan Zrar Ghafur and his delegation.

In a meeting, both parties discussed building a scientific relationship, conducting a mutual activity, and encouraging the EPU technical institutes alumni to complete their higher education studies at Knowledge University.

During their meeting, both university Rectors signed a memorandum of understanding agreement that included several points:

First: the Knowledge University and the Erbil Polytechnic University will collaborate in joint activities like Seminars, workshops, symposiums, and scientific conferences.

Second: both sides will work on the education programs and Bologna process implementation in the scientific departments.

Third: if the EPU alumni wish to study at the Knowledge University colleges, the university will offer a 15% discount for them. If the graduator is top three in their department, the university will give a 25% discount to them in the four years of their studying.

Fourth: despite the discount mentioned above, the EPU alumni can benefit from the other discounts of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Knowledge University, or any related sides.

Fifth: the students once benefit from the discount for each grade, which means if a student fails in the academic year of the study cannot have any second chance to benefit from another discount.

Sixth: to benefit from the discount, the Erbil Polytechnic University graduator should offer the EPU support letter to the Knowledge University when they apply for the application form.

Seventh: this MOU will be effective for two study years, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. If both parties want to renew the MOU for an extra year, they should resign a new agreement.

On Monday, the 10^th of October 2022, the celebration of the fifth Pedagogy training course completion was presented in the Meeting Hall of the University Presidency. In this ceremony, the EPU Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the General Director in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Asst. Prof. Dr. Zhala and her delegation were available.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector welcomed the Higher Education and Scientific Research delegation, guests, and the Pedagogy Course Participants. He congratulated the Pedagogy course supervisors and attendees and wished them success.

In another part of his speech, his Excellency Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki mentioned the university lecturers’ significant roles, which are the vertebrae of the University who have an essential challenging task in developing the future generation. Our universities always need new lecturers to continue the education process in the right way; for this reason, the pedagogy courses are necessary factors in creating qualified teachers to serve and develop the Kurdistan Region’s future generation. Once again, I congratulated the Pedagogy Course supervisors and the participants and wished them the best of luck.

Later, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry Representative Asst. Prof. Dr. Zhala presented a speech in which she expressed her gratitude towards the University Rector for inviting them to the celebration and appreciated the fifth-course pedagogy supervisors. She talked about the influence of sustainable development of science through producing qualified academic and scientific staff at higher education institutions. She mentioned several valuable points which start by enhancing university lecturers as they are focal points between students and theoretical knowledge. For this reason, teachers always need to update themselves with scientific information to benefit the country’s generation. Thus, we should produce researcher lecturers, not only lecturers or researchers, because researcher lecturers are creators and knowledge seekers who never give up in front of difficulties.

It is worth mentioning that the fifth pedagogy started on 02/02/2022 and was completed on 31/07/2022, in which master and Ph.D. holders participated, and nine lecturers supervised them.

 

On Monday, the 10^th of October 2022, the Registration Directorate of the Erbil Polytechnic University Presidency managed a workshop about the electronic registration of students in the colleges and institutes. The University Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Recoor Assistant for Scientific Affairs, and several EPU Presidency Directors were present in this workshop.

The workshop was delivered by Ms. Shilan, an Erbil Technical Engineering College lecturer. She talked about the electronic registration database of students in colleges and institutes and how to add information and data.

It is worth mentioning that this database is made by the mentioned lecturer. The registration units of the colleges and institutes use up-to-date technology to register and renew the students’ information.
