Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University visited the Erbil Engineering Technical College and was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ayad Zaki Saber, the Dean of the Erbil Engineering Technical College and the Dean Assistant.
In a meeting where Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Vice Rector for the Scientific Affairs and Higher Education were present, the preparations for the start of the new academic year were discussed.
Then the Rector accompanied by the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education participated in the discussion of the doctoral thesis of Mr. Zrar Khalid Abdul in the Technical Engineering Department of Information System entitled (Automatic Gear Fault Diagnosis Using Machine Learning Algorithms).
Then, they participated in the discussion of the master’s thesis of Mr. Didar Arif Hussein in the Technical Department of Civil Engineering entitled )Experimental Evaluation of Load Carrying Capacity of Post Installed Adhesive Anchors).
Today, Tuesday, the 12th of September, 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University, the Dastpek training course started, which is an important project and has many benefits for students and graduates of the Erbil Polytechnic University to find job opportunities and become self-employed through innovation projects and competition.
The Dastpek Project is a special competition for entrepreneurship in which the Erbil Polytechnic University participates alongside six other universities in the Kurdistan Region. The course is organized by the German Foundation (GIZ) with the assistance of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The participants will be trained by trainers Kovan Omar and Zanyar Jabar. This project is funded by the European Union which encourages university graduates and students to develop their own business ideas and work to establish their own jobs. In the first phase, 60 graduates and students will benefit.
Through this project, students and graduates of the Erbil Polytechnic University can participate in a two-day training course in which they will work on building a work project as a team and then two teams will be selected for the next stage of the competition alongside the team other universities participating in this program will then receive intensive training In the final stage, the winning teams will present their projects in a special ceremony.
The objectives of the project are to change the attitudes of students and graduates about their future work, get familiar with entrepreneurship, and business leadership, practical steps to build businesses, promote and enhance the ability to work in teams practically.
On Monday, the 11th of September, 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, received a delegation from Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy consisting of Dr. Daniel Fit Paldi and Dr. Glara Fuad Hassan.
In a meeting where several members of the university council and director of the International Relations Office were present, after introducing our university to the guest delegation, they discussed the establishment of academic and scientific relations between the Erbil Polytechnic University and Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy. Both universities agreed upon Signing a memorandum of understanding to conduct scientific activities such as scientific conferences and conduct joint scientific research between the teachers of both universities.
The meeting also focused on the work strategy and capacity of our university and the successful programs it conducts in collaboration with other universities around the world, especially student exchange. The Erbil Polytechnic University annually trains more than 30 to 40 students abroad, which gives them the necessary experience, knowledge and information to successfully complete the training.
