Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Assistant For Scientific Affairs participates in the Opening Session Of the Camp Plus Project in France

After receiving a fund as the only university above the Kurdistan Region and Iraq within the International Program of Erasmus+ (Funded by European Union), the first opening session of the Camp+ started on 10 to 11th of February, 2022. All the project partners attended this session; Erbil Polytechnic University representatives consisted of the Rector Assistant for Scientific Affairs Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, and the Head of Cultural Relations at the International Relations Office Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Omer Yassin participated in the face-to-face meeting in France. Also, through online zoom, the EPU International Office Department Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah and Dr. Selar Othman attended this event.

In this meeting, they accurately planned for three years, from 2021 to 2024, including the refugees and displaced people capacity building to cope with the society and strengthen their characters to seize job opportunities.

They also assured upon building a specific website for the project and conducting monthly meetings to follow up the project and provide a coordinator by each partner.

The project partners decided to hold the TOT courses (online or live) in Italy and pursue their management. Fifteen staff from the EPU, the Italian establishments, and Greece will attend these courses, from which five trainees will start working as trainers in the camps.

During the project continues, the partners will evaluate the process from inside and outside. Then, at the end of the project European Union will assess it.

Erbil Polytechnic University And IOM Organization Announce A workshop For Students

In collaboration with IOM (International Organization for Migration), Erbil Polytechnic University will open two days workshop for our university students.

The workshop will be held from 22 to 23rd of February at the EPU Celebration Hall from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. One hundred and twenty students will participate in this workshop. They will get familiar with the necessity and importance of social peace, taking care of people with special needs, and how to behave with them. After completing the workshop, the students will receive a certificate of participation.

This event is within the activities of our university and non-governmental and international organizations to build relationships between the university and society.

Holding A Mutual meeting Between Erbil Polytechnic University And Duhok Polytechnic University

On Thursday, 10th of February 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University and Duhok Polytechnic University (DPU) conducted a meeting at Shaqlawa Technical College. In this meeting, our university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani and the DPU President Asst. Prof. Dr. Ari Adel Abdulqadir were available.

Several University Council Members and Directors of both universities were present in this session. They discussed many subjects, including more mutual collaboration and understanding. For this reason, they decided to perform a mutual humanitarian and social international conference.

Erbil Polytechnic University Arranges A Seminar For The Kurdistan Great Artist Mazhari Khaliqi

On Thursday, the 8th of February 2022, within the weekly seminar of the EPU, the Exterior Activities Department arranged a discussion session, “The Influence and Importance of Art for the Kurdistan Culture Protection and Development,” for the Kurdistan great artist Mr. Mazhari Khaliqi. In this event, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Dr. Aram Muhammad Qadir, the Kurdistan Parliament President Deputy Dr. Hemn Hawrami, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Deputy Dr. Abdulfatah Abdulrazaq, several EPU Council members, Political Party and Governmental members, Artists, Poets, lecturers, and students were present.

At the beginning of the seminar, the famous great artist Mr. Mazhari Khaliqi talked about his life, how he worked in art and singed. He also spoke about his artistic productions, nearly two hundred recorded products. Then, he mentioned his role in media and his works with Tehran Radio. Later, he talked about establishing the Kurdish Cultural Institute established in 2003 at Sulaymania city.

In another part of his speech, Mr. Mazhari Khaliqi talked about the influence of art, particularly song, upon national identity and familiarity. He said, “When nations are forbidden to use their languages, singing takes place language. Through songs, one can say everything. This is how our rich culture was born that stayed inside Kurdish Soul. They expressed their feelings through literature and melodies that became our identity. All I can talk about is a drop of a sea”.

The discussion gate opened for the attendees to direct their questions and comments responded in detail by Mr. Mazhari Khaliqi.

At the end of the seminar, the university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani offered the university placket for Mr. Mazhari Khaliqi and expressed his warm appreciation and gratitude towards holding this seminar.
