On Sunday, the 11th of December 2022, the Erbil Polytechnic University organized a seminar for the first-year students of the Erbil Technical Engineering College entitled “University is a Sector for individual Balance and Change Towards a Brighter Future”.
At the seminar where the Rector Assistant for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Yousif Mustafa Rasul, Dean of Erbil Technical Engineering College Dr. Ayad Zaki, the Director of General Registry of the University Presidency Dr.Sarsam Khalil Omar, the Director of Quality Assurance of the Presidency of the University, Kamal Mohammed Abdullah and several lecturers in the library hall of Erbil Technical Engineering College.
During the seminar, Ms. Avan explained how students behave in college, get acquainted with the university environment, how students deal with lecturers and friends, use laboratories and college equipment, and several other topics related to student life directed and they were answered.
In Collaboration with UTH University of Germany, the Erbil Polytechnic University held a scientific course entitled “Basic Electronic Laboratory that continued for one week.”
The course was funded by DAAD International Organization for a week from the 7th of November to the 1st of December 2022, in which the academic staff from the Erbil Technology College, Erbil Technical Engineering college, and three staff members of Department of Physics of the College of Education-Salahaddin University participated.
After the course, on Monday, the 5th of December 2022, the University Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Mohammed Tahir Harki, received the supervisors, teachers, and participants of the course and offered them honorary and participation certificates.
On December 5, 2022, the Rector of the University, Prof. Edrees Mohammed Tahir Harki, headed a meeting about the Electronic Management System at the university in which all the directors of the university presidency and all the administrative directors of colleges and institutes affiliated with our university.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector welcomed the participants. He spoke about the system and congratulated the colleges and institutes that are active and working with the system.
His Excellency, our University Rector, also fully supported the participants by providing the necessary equipment to work with the system.
Later, the Administrative Director of the Presidency of the University, Mr. Sarmand Barzanji, made some comments and suggestions to reduce administrative routines in the university presidency, colleges, and institutes to complete the managerial procedures and transactions of university visitors faster.
Finally, the head of the electronic system Unit of Erbil Polytechnic University, Engineer Mohsin Ali, presented the shortcomings with detailed data and explained to the participants how to work on the system and how to perform the work in the best way.
On Wednesday, the 30th of November 2022, the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector. Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Advisory Board between Academia and the Private Sector announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
In the ceremony Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, several presidents of the Kurdistan Region universities, consultants, general directors and representatives of a significant number of companies in the Kurdistan Region was available at the first consultative meeting between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Private Sector, and the Industry Sector.
The Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister presented a statement in which he said: “This step is the beginning of a new revolution in education reform and human resource development. It is important that all our partners in parliament, government, private sector, civil society organizations, and intellectuals support and collaborate with us,”
The purpose of establishing the Board of Academia, private sector, and industry is to create collaboration between universities and educational institutions with the private and industrial sectors of Kurdistan, in which polytechnic universities will play an important role as these universities are currently responsive to the labor market.
The board’s mission is to constantly survey the needs of the labor market, change the content of the curriculum and open new departments and programs related to the labor market, as well as reviewing the departments that are no longer in demand.
Another objective of the project is to receive the views of the private sector and industry on further collaboration to prepare the Kurdistan Workforce in light of the labor market’s needs and the economic development directors in the Kurdistan Region for university education to reflect the needs of the labor market and the direction of economic growth and prepare the youth of our country for the skills needed for the labor market.
