The University Rector Visits Turkish Consulate General In Erbil

Accompanied by a delegation, the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki visited the Turkish Consulate General in Erbil where He was welcomed by the consulate. The delegation consisted of the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education and the Director of International Relations Office of the University,

At the beginning of the meeting, our university Rector on behalf of himself and the Erbil Polytechnic University extended his condolences to Mr. Mevlut Yakut due to the earthquake on February 6 in Turkey and asked God’s forgiveness for those who died in the incident He wished the wounded.

The university Rector said “our university presidency and all colleges and institutes have launched a campaign to collect aid for the earthquake victims and in the next few days through the relevant parties in the Kurdistan Regional Government will deliver the aid.

The Turkish Consul General in Erbil, Mevlut Yakut expressed his gratitude towards the University Rector for his visit and expressing their condolences for the incident.

Mr. Mevlut Yakut praised the attitude of the Kurdistan Regional Government and its people for being the first country to help the victims of the earthquake in his country and affirmed that the Turkish government is very grateful to the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Kurdish people for their cooperation in sending aid and medical teams to the country.

 Strengthening the relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) universities in general and the Erbil Polytechnic University in particular with Turkish universities was another topic of the meeting. In this regard, he emphasized on facilitating opportunities for the higher education and participation in congresses and conferences and visits to Turkish universities.

They also discussed the issue of recognition of the Erbil Polytechnic University by the Institution of Higher Education in Turkey and the universities of that country, which was previously recognized as a Technical Education Foundation, and emphasized the need for close collaboration to complete this issue

Erbil Polytechnic University Arranged A Workshop For All The Heads Of The Technical Colleges And Institutes Erbil Polytechnic organized a workshop for all heads of departments of technical colleges and institutes Departments

On Wednesday, the 15th of February, 2023, in the presence of the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Vice Rectors, a number of the University Council members, and the Directors of the University Presidency, the Quality Assurance Directorate conducted a workshop for the heads of scientific departments of all colleges and institutes under the title (Development of Academic and Administrative Skills) which included these subjects: (Body Language, Leadership, Assessment of Academic Writing, Implementation of the guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education in the Bologna system, and guidelines for the promotion of academic titles) that continued for two days.

At the beginning of the workshop, the University Rector delivered a speech in which he welcomed the heads of departments. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki described the activity as an important step to enhance the capacity of the heads of departments in terms of administration, science and technology, to make the education process reach a higher level.

In another part of his speech, the Rector said: The position of the department head is a sacred and important duty, and it is the connection point between students and teachers. The progress of the educational process depends on the skills and talents of the teacher Managing this duty. This is why, I hope you consider this workshop as an opportunity to get more benefits to accomplish your mission better.

Then, the first chapter entitled (Body Language) was presented by Dr. Fazil Jaff who scientifically explained body language, contact and physical and communication such as eye movements and gestures, facial lines in general, and hand movements during speech and conversation.

After a short break, the second chapter entitled (A Kind of Leadership) have been presented by Dr. Mahdi Khalid Qadir. He in detail spoke about the art of leadership and the characteristics of a successful leader.

Finally, the door of discussion was opened and the participants asked questions that were responded by Dr. Fazel and Dr. Mahdi.

On the second day of the workshop, three topics were presented in a scientific and detailed manner, each of these topics (Evaluation of Academic Writing) by (Prof. Dr. Himdad Abdulqahar Mohammed) and the second topic entitled (Implementation of the Ministry of Higher Education instructions in Bologna System (ECTS) by (Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar).

After the break, another topic entitled (Guidelines for Promoting Scientific Degrees) was delivered by (Asst. Prof. Dr. Afan Osman Hussein). Later the workshop presenters opened the gate of the discussion and questions in front of the attendees and answered them properly.

At the end of the workshop, the presenters were awarded by certificates of appreciation and were thanked for their efforts.

The 9th International Engineering Conference Between Erbil Polytechnic University and TISHK International University has started

On Wednesday, the 15th February, 2023, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdulfatah Abdulrazaq, the President of the Erbil Governorate Council Dr. Ali Rashid, the Deputy Governor of Erbil Massoud Karash, a number of presidents of public and private universities and the Head of the Aso Regional Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Lawand Dizeyi participated in the opening ceremony of the 9th Annual International Engineering Conference between the Erbil Polytechnic University and the TISHK International University and with support of (EEE Triple-Iraq).

After listening to the Iraqi and Kurdistan national anthems, the President of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki Presented his statement in which he said: “Dear guests, I am very pleased to attend the 9th Annual International Engineering Conference entitled (Towards a New Direction for Research and Development in Engineering) organized by the Erbil Polytechnic University and the TISHK International University with the support of EEE Triple-Iraq.

Dear participants, we at the Erbil Polytechnic University attach great importance to scientific research, for this purpose, we are working to hold several conferences annually to enable our teachers and researchers present their research results and publish them.

Ladies and gentlemen, holding a scientific conference has several objectives. These objectives are to bring together experts in a particular field who present their research together, exchange ideas and understanding among them, which will enable them to conduct joint research and supervise higher education students in the future. These are the general objectives of any scientific conference.

Dear respectful participants, in addition to the objectives I mentioned, this conference is a modern need for the Kurdistan Region in general and Erbil capital city in particular because today we see a widespread reconstruction in the fields of construction and technology. We hope that the research results of the teachers participating in the conference will be another support for the relevant government agencies to make better use of the existing prosperity with better techniques and technology.

We would like to thank the supervisory and organizing committees of the conference and the sponsors of the conference. I again welcome you and thank you for your participation.

Then the Deputy Minister of Higher Education delivered a speech and said: Scientific conferences have their own importance in many ways. Whilst you show a beautiful picture of universities, at the same time you have a significant impact on scientific research activities. It is also a way to bring together the minds of society to discuss, present and then solve society’s problems .In another part of his speech, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research pointed to the various problems of society and the challenges facing the Kurdistan Region, he said: Our region is facing various problems such as, electricity, desertification, environmental pollution, water resources, sewerage, roads and many others. All these can be solved through engineering proposals and research.

In this context, he said: Engineers should spread a culture in society that citizens and even various government institutions when building houses and buildings to rely on the materials and supplies that during the seasons, citizens less rely on heating and cooling devices in their homes. He hoped that engineers would take into account the characteristics of urbanization and culture in the design of houses and buildings.

It is worth mentioning that this conference will continue for two days on 15 and 16/2/2023, in which through (8) different panels, researchers from institutions, academic organizations and universities from (10) different countries participate in the presentation of (53) Scientific research in various fields of engineering that will be discussed and published in local and international journals after evaluation.

The University Rector Receives The Vocational Training Director In Erbil

On Monday, the 13th of February, 2023, his Excellency our university Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki received the Director of the Vocational Training in Erbil Mr. Dilawar and his accompanying delegation.

In the meeting where the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and the Director of the Career Development Center of our university were present, they discussed strengthening relations with the Career Development Center of our university and opening professional development courses for graduates).

In the same meeting, both the Erbil Polytechnic University and the Erbil Vocational Training Directorate decided to sign a memorandum of understanding in the next meeting between the two sides to work together to further assist and support the Erbil Polytechnic University alumni.
