Prof. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector received Mr. Irvin Hicks Jr., the US General Consul in Erbil and his accompanying delegation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University welcomed the guest delegation and briefed them on the structure of the university at the level of colleges, institutes and departments.

Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki also spoke about the importance of polytechnic universities in general and Erbil Polytechnic University in particular to train graduates as central cadres to benefit the public and private sectors.

Within his dialogue with the US General Consul, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University shed light on taking a great care of the university departments that have the most opportunities in the private sector in the Kurdistan Region. Meanwhile, he talked about the university’s plan to adapt to the needs of the labor market.

In another part of his speech, the Rector spoke about the joint programs that have been carried out between the US organizations and the Erbil Polytechnic University to further serve the community and asked for continued US support.

From his side, Mr. Irvin Hicks, the US Consul General in Erbil thanked the President of Erbil Polytechnic University for receiving them and providing an opportunity to meet them in the university center.

The US Consul General assured the influence of the Erbil Polytechnic University as an academic center in the Kurdistan Region and expressed his pleasure that the university pays attention to its departments and programs to adapt to the developments to be up to date with the labor market.

 Irvin Hicks reiterated his support for the joint work between the Erbil Polytechnic University and the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil and both sides agreed to continue to work together to serve the community and create job opportunities for our alumni.

On Monday, the 12^th of June, 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University, Dr. Zhala Saeed Khatat, the General Director of the Research and Development Office of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and her accompanying delegation visited the scientific proficiency examination hall in the Erbil Technical Engineering College.

The Rector and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Representative, in close proximity observed the process of scientific proficiency examinations for the postgraduate study (Higher Diploma, Master, and Doctorate) of the three Technical Colleges( Health and Medicine, Administration, and Engineering) in Erbil.

The seventh course of pedagogy ended in a ceremony where Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University was present.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Director of the Pedagogy Center, Dr. Khalil Hassan Younis welcomed the Rector on behalf of himself and the participants and thanked him for attending the ceremony.

Dr. Khalil Hassan Younis said that in the seventh course of pedagogy of the Erbil Polytechnic University, 82 people participated who were the holders of master’s and doctoral degrees. This course continued for six months by pedagogical teachers who taught new teaching methodology to the participants

Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University congratulated the participants and wished them success.

The Erbil Polytechnic University Rector considered the importance of pedagogy courses for the master’s and doctoral degrees holders as one of the requirements for awarding scientific degrees, meanwhile he talked about the role of the teachers of the course in conveying modern methods of teaching.

His Excellency the university Rector said: “this course alone is not enough to become a leading teacher in the university, but the university teacher should be competent in his specialty, try to develop himself, and follow the triangle that is (Education, Learning, and Scientific Research). They should use up-to-date strategy and modern teaching methods.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, spoke about the importance of the duties of teachers in the university and appreciated the position of university teachers in society and their role in improving the cognitive, economic and social level.

Then Mr. Fuad Ali Smail, the Pedagogy Director in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on behalf of the General Director of the Office of Research and Development congratulated General the Erbil Polytechnic University and the teachers of the course and congratulated the graduates.

The Director of Pedagogy in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research shed light on the importance of pedagogical courses for master’s and doctoral degree holders.

He also thanked the President of Erbil Polytechnic University for his continuous support to the course and on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reaffirmed his support for the university and the pedagogical center.

Then, certificates were offered to the participants by the President of Erbil Polytechnic University, several lecturers, and other attendees.

Under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University the fifth annual festival of second year students of the Erbil Technology College was conducted.

After the opening of the festival, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the Deans of the Erbil Technology College, Erbil Technical Administrative Institute, the Erbil Medical Technical Institute, the Head of the Future Regional Committee and a number of teachers, Employees, and students were present. They visited the sections of the festival and the works and activities exhibited were shown to the audience.

The Erbil Polytechnic University Rector congratulated the organizers, supervisors and students participating in the festival and wished them success.

His Excellency our University Rector emphasized on the products and handicrafts of students which should be reflected in colleges and universities and for this purpose encouraged the participating students to prepare some of their works as gifts to present them to the delegation and guests coming to universities and relevant parties to become familiar with their work.
