EPU Staff Recruitment for an International Virtual Challenge between EPU Students and USA Students

After almost completion of the first cohort of the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge Program, the International Office in collaboration with IREX Organization announces the second cohort for Spring 2020. This program focuses on cultural exchange, business sustainability and development, and making a difference in the community. Moreover, students will gain workforce skills of entrepreneurial thinking, cross cultural communication, team collaboration, empathy, critical thinking, creative problem solving, adaptability, and human centred design thinking. They will also develop solutions for real global challenges and expand access to a professional network,

In this year’s challenge, only Erbil Polytechnic University, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and Anbar University, from Kurdistan region and Iraq. The selected staff will go through the recruitment phase by the International Office then it will be nominated to participate in an extensive two days training program on how to run and guide students who participate in the program.

The requirements:

  1. The facilitator (applicant) must speak English language fluently in order to communicate with partners in the USA.
  2. The facilitator must be available for at least four hours per week.
  3. The program will run in the afternoon, mostly between 3-7 pm. This is because of the time difference between the USA and our students’ classes.
  4. The facilitator must be committed to complete the program within 10 weeks.
  5. Once selected, it will be the responsibility of the facilitator to recruit students.

It worth mentioning that the top three finalist teams win a grant to make their prototype a reality. The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge Program is a virtual exchange in partnership with American students in the USA and Jordanian students in Jordan. The program is supported by Stevens Initiative, sponsored by the US Department of State, administered by Aspen Institute, and implemented by IREX.

The interview process will take place on 5th November 2019 at 10:00 am in the International Office of EPU Presidency. The interested applicants must attend the interview where they will be given further details about the program.

Two Days Workshop Under the title Of “Digitalization Of Erbil Polytechnic University”

On October 20, 2019, Erbil Polytechnic University has conducted a workshop under the title of “Digitalization of Erbil Polytechnic University” in the conference hall of the Scientific Research Department. This workshop has continued for two days and focused on the following topics: understanding E-Learning, Introduction to University Management Systems (UMSs).

Supervising of this workshop was managed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Zayat from National Egyptian E-Learning University. He tackled all the necessary information regarding the issue of Information Management System for the attendees which will build a new system in Erbil Polytechnic University. In such an argumentative workshop, 35 of academic staff and faculties enthusiastically participated in order to restructure the university towards internationalization.

To shed light on the details, it is great to be mentioned that this workshop is the consequence of TIGRIS project and the strategic plan of EPU.

Erbil Polytechnic University And Tishk International University Have Renewed The Cooperation Contract And Holding International Conference

On Thursday, October 17, 2019, a delegation of Erbil Polytechnic University represented by Dr.Najib Bato Toma, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and a delegation of Tishk International University represented by Dr. Muhammad Ozdamir, Vice President for Scientific Affairs have held a meeting in order to conduct the annual scientific conference.

In this meeting, they decided to renew the contract of cooperation and holding scientific International Conference under the name of “International Engineering Conference (IEC)”, which will be conducted on 26-27 of February 2019 and will include Civil Engineering and Information Technology Engineering, scientifically sponsored by U.S. institution in Iraq (IEEE)

The Rector Of EPU Has Rewarded A Student Of College Of Erbil Technical Health

On Tuesday, 15th of October, 2019, Assist. Prof. Dr. Kawa Sherwani, the rector of the university with the presence of Assist. Prof. Mr. Umed Arshad Hawezi, the dean of Erbil Technical Health College received Hala Nihad Nuri, a student in Erbil Technical Health College, Medical Laboratory, 4th year, who participated in a program of culture exchange between Kurdistan Region and China

The process of choosing the student was based on several accurate measurements and evaluations, which was implemented by International Office Department and Presidency of EPU.

In this event, Miss. Hala Nihad talked about the importance of that scientific journey, accompanied by 9 other students in the other universities of Kurdistan Region. The aim of the journey was to exchange culture and science between China and Kurdistan Region. She also delivered a detailed report about the journey in which she gained a great benefit. She expressed her warm appreciation towards the Rector of EPU and her college, whom are continuously support students to step forward to reach the peak of success.

Then, his Excellency offered a reward of appreciation to her. He wished her success becomes a sustainable development in the rest of her life. It is worth to be mentioned that Hala Nihad Nuri had been chosen amongst many other students because of her skills.

Annually, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Region in collaboration with Consulate of China country send 10 top students who are evaluated and chosen based on their language and scientific talents in order to be able to attend such a program.
