Within the continuous efforts to develop the abilities of youth and graduates, the city of Erbil hosted a training course for trainers and facilitators (ToT / ToF) for the “Job Search Club (JSC)” or job search advisors. This important training was organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) with financial support from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). This step was an important part of the strategy to reduce unemployment and prepare young people for the job market. In the future, these trainers guided youth using modern and scientific methods.Through this program, graduates learned job search tools, how to write a professional CV and cover letter, how to pass job interviews successfully, and how to build strong connections with important people in the job market.

It is worth mentioning that our university always gave great importance to such activities and programs and continuously supported them. It strongly believed that strengthening the professional skills of youth and preparing them for the job market was one of its main duties and a big responsibility. Therefore, it always supported efforts that created better opportunities and a brighter future for our graduates and students.

It also aimed to increase the integration of technical and professional skills with the labor market, especially in the green and digital economy sectors.

The project was implemented with the participation of the Ministries of Higher Education, Education, and Labor and Social Affairs in both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government. It was carried out through the statistics authorities in Erbil and Baghdad, in coordination with UNESCO, and was supported by the European Union.

At this stage, representatives from the statistics directorates of the provinces of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Nineveh, and Salahaddin participated, along with representatives from the ministries of Higher Education, Education, and Labor from both governments. Representatives of companies from these provinces in the green and digital economy sectors also took part.

During the two-day workshop, a Sector Council (SC) for each participating province was formed by the participants, and the council members were selected. Asst. Prof. Dr. Hataw Karim was elected as the head of the Erbil Provincial Council. An initial annual draft plan was prepared to make the council active, strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors, and help align academic and vocational graduates from the Ministries of Education and Higher Education with the needs of the labor market.
