On Wednesday, the 6th of March, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Edress Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, attended the first conference of the Mergasor Technical Institute entitled “Barzan in Resistance for Nationalization (Education and Learning & Environmental Protection and Coexistence)” with the participation of Prof. Dr. Abubakr Dewana Hamad, Dr. Abdullah Mullah, Prof. Dr. Farsat Marri, and Mr. Rekar Mazuri).
In the conference, Prof. Dr. Azad Hassan Qadir, the Vice Rector for the Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Halgurd Sheikh Najib, the Supervisor of the Soran Independent Administration, Mr. Ghafoor Ahmad Mullaswar, the Governor of Mergasor District, a significant number of party and government officials, followers of different religions and sects, and academic and administrative staff, and students were present.
At the beginningof the conference, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki delivered a speech on behalf of the council of Erbil Polytechnic University and the council of Mergasur Technical Institute welcomed the guests and participants of the panel and said: In the field of education and environmental protection, the duty of the university is not only to provide science and information and conduct scientific research, but another important duty of the university is to serve society for social equality for a better economy to raise awareness among the society on various issues, especially on national issues.”
“Today, the writers and lecturers of the university who are participating in this panel with us I want to want ot express my warm gratitude towards their presence and I do not want to go into the issues, but what is important I want to talk about education since the beginning of the Barzan revolutions and Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, who played an important role in the construction and preparation of schools, especially religious schools, this path continues today. If we look at the role of the late Barzani in the establishment of the Union of Islamic Scholars, which played a major role and was established by his order, then the Kurdistan Teachers Union and paid attention to education in Kurdish In 1970, it was established that this subject should be taught in Kurdish and later the Kurdish Information Forum was established by the late Barzani. These are some examples of the role of the Barzan sheikhs in education.”

Later, the programs of the conference consisted of a panel presentation with the participation of “Prof. Dr. Abubakr Dewana Hamad, Dr. Abdullah Mullah, Prof. Dr. Farsat Marri, Mr. Rekar Mazuri” in which they detailed the stages of the Barzani resistance and revolution. After the panel, the President of Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki and the Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration, Mr. Halgurd Sheikh Najib, awarded certificates to the participants.
In the second part of the conference, as a tribute to their efforts in the field of science and academia, shields of honor were awarded to a group of professors who were born or from Mergasor district and the conference ended.
