Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University and Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center participated in a meeting at the official invitation of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman, in a meeting to welcome Ms. Baroness Emma Nicholson, Founder and President of the Iraqi-British Business Council IBBC.
In the meeting, the Erbil Governor Umed Khoshnaw, the British Consul General James Goldenman, Sarwar Kamal Hawari, the Deputy Minister of the Commerce and Industry for Trade Affairs, diplomats, members of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and several businessmen Several speeches were presented.
Baroness Emma Nicholson, the Founder and President of IBBC, who is also a member of the House of Lords, spoke about the struggle and sacrifices of the Kurdish people and the history of economic and trade relations with Kurdistan and the Erbil City. He also spoke about the role of the university in developing the country’s economy.
During the meetings, the university delegation met with the members of the IBBC organization in which they discussed the importance of university in society, especially in preparing young people for the labor market and participation of the university in activities related to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kurdistan.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki met with the British Consul General in Erbil and after discussing several important issues, he also invited the British Consul General in Erbil to visit the Erbil Polytechnic University and the Consul General welcomed the invitation and said that he will visit Erbil Polytechnic University in a near future.
Finally, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University held a meeting with Ms. Baroness Emma Nicholson, the Founder and President of the Iraqi-British Business Council (IBBC).
In the meeting emphasized the importance of the university for the society and providing jobs for the youth of the country, in addition to the importance of the university to solve the problems of the market and the industrial sector in the Kurdistan Region.
