Erbil Polytechnic University and Kurdistan Innovation Institute have signed a memorandum of understanding

On Thursday, the 23rd of November, 2023, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki received a delegation of Kurdistan Innovation Institute (K.I.I) included Dr. Sarbaz Najib Othman, Vice Chairman of the Board and Co-Executive Director (K.I.I), Dr. Azad Najar, Board Member and Co-Executive Director of K.I.I and their accompanying delegation.

In the meeting Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar the Dean of the Erbil Technology College, and Asst. Prof. Dr.  Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the Director of the International Relations Office of EPU were present. Both sides emphasized on cooperation and collaboration in the field of innovation and using the ability and talent of university teachers and students in areas related to Kurdistan’s economic development and building an industrial base, especially in the field of energy using natural resources.

In this meeting, both sides agreed to hold a forum on developing innovation skills for some of the teachers and students of our university by experts in (K.I.I), as well as introduce them to the vision, goals and strategy of Kurdistan Innovation Institute (K.I.I).

Afterwards, a memorandum of understanding was signed by both sides which includes the following points:

  • Exchanging of new knowledge and ideas in the field of innovation.
  • Cooperation and collaboration for the development and promotion of student projects.
  • Conducting conferences and workshops to develop the skills of students and teachers in the field of innovation.
  • Participation in conferences, seminars and workshops of each side by the staff of the other side.
  • Visiting each other’s centers, laboratories and workshops by the staff from both parties.
  • To benefit from participating in the international conferences on innovation.
  • To Provide global funding for innovation projects.

A scientific journey

On 23/11/2023, a scientific trip was conducted for the second year students of the evening medical plant production department, to the nurseries of Minara Park, in order to further familiarize the students with practical ways to identify plants. The scientific trip was supervised by M. Bilal Ibrahim and M. Shuan Mohammed.

Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute visits Zom Company in Erbil

Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute visits Zom Company in Erbil
Today. November 22, 2023, Dr. Talib MohammedSharif Omer, Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute/Erbil Polytechnic University visited Zom Company and was welcomed by Blend Kurdo, Chief of staff and Abdulaziz Sherwani, General manager of the ZOM company.
Throughout the meeting, they discussed the establishment and development of relations between Mergasor Technical Institute and Zom Company, and to cooperate and coordinate between them in the development of the Mergasor Technical Institute.
Additionally, both sides discussed the labor market needs in the benefit of community. Considering this, the Zom Company will be ready of assistance to Mergasor Technical Institute in terms of providing laboratories and human resources especially for the department of beekeeping.

The Rector of the University receives a delegation from the British Council in Iraq

On Tuesday, the 22nd of November, 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University, received a delegation of the British Council, which consisted of Mr. Ammar Tariq, the Head of the Department of Education and representative of the English Language Tests Department and Mr. Nashuan from the Department of Education.

In the meeting, where Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the Director of the International Relations Office of our university was present, both parties discussed to strengthen the relations of our university with the universities of the UK through British Council that has strong relations with the British universities.

In another part of the meeting, they suggested that the British Council provide financial support to expand and strengthen academic relationships.

In the same meeting, the method of English language examinations was discussed and it was requested that the Language Center of our university become an IELTS examination center.
