The University Rector visits the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom

Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University visited the University of Nottingham with a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research included several advisors, general directors and presidents of Salahaddin, Sulaimani, Duhok and Garmian universities

The delegation, which arrived to the UK on Sunday, the 3rd of December, 2023 at the invitation of the British Council, met with the University of Nottingham on Monday and participated in several meetings.

During the meetings, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki shed light on the structure of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the scientific departments of our university that need more cooperation and support, especially those departments that are new and rare in the Kurdistan Region.

They also focused on  the internationalization of the university, participation, and partnership of our university in the fields of research, exchange of teachers and students, review of curricula and assistance to train teachers in the fields that our university needs.

Later, the President of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the General Secretary of the University of Nottingham presented gifts and the university logo to each other.

A Panel Discussion on Drugs and their Dangers on Society was held in the Presence of the University Rector at Soran Technical College

Under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Soran Technical College arranged a panel entitled (Drugs and their dangers on society) for Dr. Salah Anwar Hamad, an advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Sarmand Barzanji, the administrative Director of the Erbil Polytechnic University Presidency, and Mr. Muhammed Hamid Abbas, an officer in the General Directorate of Drugs.

At the beginning of the panel where Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Vice Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University for the Scientific Affairs Higher Education and Ms. Pakistan Mohammed Amin Yousef, the Dean of Soran Technical College, several government and party officials, members of the college council, teachers, employees and students of the college were present, the Dean of the Soran Technical College welcomed the guests and spoke about the importance of holding such panels.

Then, Mr. Abdulbasit Ali Ghafoor as the panel director, asked questions to the panelists and they talked about the harms and dangers of drugs and their consequences, which is currently one of the most important issues in the world and Kurdistan, especially the geographical location of the Soran region.

It is worth mentioning that the Erbil Polytechnic University as an academic center plans to serve the society in addition to training cadres in its scientific centers and for this purpose through a series of scientific seminars to raise awareness among students about the harms and risks of drugs.
