Erbil Polytechnic University Attends The Twenty Seventh Forum Of Arab Universities Council in Egypt

Erbil Polytechnic University participates in the Arab Universities Council Forum to exchange Arab students training forum in Misr University for Science and Technology in Egypt. Our university representative is the Head of the Cultural Relations Unit in the International Relations Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Omer Yassin was present in this forum which continued from 13 to 17th of March 2022.

Thirty-six universities from eleven countries attended the twenty-seventh forum of the Arab Universities Council. Erbil Polytechnic University and Soran University from the Kurdistan Region participated as the Arab Universities Council members. Exchange of Arab Students Training Forum aimed to make students exchange their ideas and cultures with each other and to realize education style and experience during the training.

The Arab universities yearly exchange students’ training. Last two years, Corona Virus’s pandemic stopped this program, but it will start again from 01/07/2022 to 31/07/2022. Twenty-five EPU students will travel to Egypt, Sudan, and Jordan for one month to attend a summer training course supervised by our university.  

The International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation Visits Erbil Polytechnic University

On Thursday, 17th of March 2022, the EPU Rectors Assistants for Scientific Affairs and Administration and Finance Affairs received the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation.

The Head of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Department was present in this meeting. They talked about providing academic staff and hiring interior staff for the Technical Orthotics and Prosthetics Department. To manage these issues, they suggested bringing support from the Technical Health and Medical College to continue the education process and receive students in the next year of academic study.

It is worth reminding that the Orthotics and Prosthetics Department is the first scientific department around Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, which was established in the academic year (2020-2021) in our university. The International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) supported opening this department and collaborating and backing the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Erbil Polytechnic University Receives Netherlands’ Consulate General Erbil Secretary

On Sunday 13th of March 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Asst. Prof Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani Received Netherlands’ Consulate General Erbil Secretary Suzanne Tossings, her delegation, and the SPARK International Organization delegation.

In a meeting where both the university Rector Assistants for Scientific Affairs and Students Affairs, Directors were present, they talked about the mutual project between our University and SPARK. This project includes refugees and displaced people sanitation and support in the Kurdistan Region that continues for three years.

The aim of Netherlands’ Consulate General Erbil Secretary visit was to determine the quality of working on the project and communicate cooperation and supports in the future to succeed the project.

Erbil Polytechnic University Holds a Seminar To Celebrate Women’s World Day

On Tuesday, 8th March 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University arranged a “Gender Difference in Community and Region’s View Point” seminar. Three panelists managed the colloquium, Dr. Heshu Rebwar Ali, Dr. Mawlud Khidher Qarani, and Ms. Avan Fars Jaf.

At the beginning of the activity, the EPU Rector presented a speech in which he welcomed the Transport and Communications Minister, Mr. Ano Jawhar, ladies, the University Council Members, lecturers, and guests. He congratulated the university and world women for the 8th March day, and he hoped this ceremony make a difference in the development of women’s rights fields in the Kurdistan Region and the World. In another part of his speech, the university Rector said: “We as the Erbil Polytechnic University see it as our duty to conduct a frank dialogue about the Kurdistan Community perspective to the women’s rights and duties, debate, and conduct serious research regarding this issue. Finally, I again congratulate Kurdistan and world women.”

The session panel began with the supervision of Dr. Selar Othman, in which the panelists discussed the problems and obstacles women face in the community and institutions in their daily activities. They also talked about women’s capacity in all life aspects despite their maternity and family duties. Then, the discussion gate opened for the audience to direct their questions and comments, which were responded to accurately by the panelists. Finally, the university Rector offered honorary certificates to the panelists and coordination committee members.

Erbil Polytechnic University celebrates Women’s World’s Day by performing special activities. This year the university will formally offer appreciation and gratitude letters to all women employees.
