On Tuesday, 15th of October, 2019, Assist. Prof. Dr. Kawa Sherwani, the rector of the university with the presence of Assist. Prof. Mr. Umed Arshad Hawezi, the dean of Erbil Technical Health College received Hala Nihad Nuri, a student in Erbil Technical Health College, Medical Laboratory, 4th year, who participated in a program of culture exchange between Kurdistan Region and China
The process of choosing the student was based on several accurate measurements and evaluations, which was implemented by International Office Department and Presidency of EPU.
In this event, Miss. Hala Nihad talked about the importance of that scientific journey, accompanied by 9 other students in the other universities of Kurdistan Region. The aim of the journey was to exchange culture and science between China and Kurdistan Region. She also delivered a detailed report about the journey in which she gained a great benefit. She expressed her warm appreciation towards the Rector of EPU and her college, whom are continuously support students to step forward to reach the peak of success.
Then, his Excellency offered a reward of appreciation to her. He wished her success becomes a sustainable development in the rest of her life. It is worth to be mentioned that Hala Nihad Nuri had been chosen amongst many other students because of her skills.
Annually, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Region in collaboration with Consulate of China country send 10 top students who are evaluated and chosen based on their language and scientific talents in order to be able to attend such a program.
Today in 8th of October, 2019, Erbil Polytechnic University formally announced the opening of Mergasur Technical Institute in a journal conference that will receive students in the next studying year. This journal conference is hold for Assist. Prof. Dr.Kawa Abdulkarim Sherwani, the Rector of EPU, Assist. Prof. Dr.Muhamad Hussein Ahmed, Director General, Head of Apparatus of Supervision and Quality Assurance in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Ghafur Mullah Swar, the Surrogate of Mergasur district in which they clarified the detail information concerning opening of this institute.
A several number of media institutions have attended this event. His Excellency, Assist. Prof. Dr.Kawa Abdulkarim Sherwani said “the opening of Mergasur Institute is a gift from the new cabinet of Kurdistan Regional Government for the brave hearted people of Mergasur District in order to serve them as they deserve more. People of this district were the symbol of resistance and sacrifice. The Rector of EPU also said “A building is temporally dedicated to this institute by the Surrogate of Mergasur until a special building will be established for it in the future. The Rector of the university has also mentioned that the institute will include three departments which are: (Business Management, Technical English Translation and Veterinary). So this year, we prepared all the procedures and plans for opening this institute which means in the next studying year (2020-2021) the institute will receive students and the priority will be given to the people of this district in order to be able to study.” Then, Ghafur Mullah Swar, the Surrogate of Mergasur district delivered a speech and said “We Thank the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Presidency of EPU for making this great decision and opening this institute in our district. Then he assured that the administration unit of Mergasur will collaborate and cooperate in serving this institute so as to be opened in the next year to be able to receive students in the next studying year.” The district of Mergasur is located in the northern west of Erbil city, which consists of 5 sub districts and the number of its inhabitants is about 70 thousand. Mergasur Technical Institute is the 9th technical institute of EPU, inside the border of Erbil that will have a great benefit for developing this border.”
EPU Attends The Second Annual Conference About “Building Internationalization Strategies For Higher Education Of Kurdistan Region”
Within the activities of TIGRIS Project into Internationalization Strategies for Higher Education in Kurdistan Region/Iraq which is an annual project co-funded by Erasmus+Program In The European Union, a conference conducts at Sulaymaniyah city in October, 06 till October, 07. 2019, under the name of “Building Internationalization Strategies For Higher Education Of Kurdistan Region”.
In this second annual conference, a delegation of Erbil Polytechnic University consists of Assist. Prof. Dr. Kawa Sherwani, the Rector of the University, Dr. Nageb Rassam, Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, Director of International Office attend, which will last for two days.
Erbil Polytechnic University is one of the local partners of 10 universities of Kurdistan who are involved in this project since 2017. Today, in the first day of the conference, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ranj, Director of International Office presented the International Strategy of EPU.
Today 1th of September, 2019, in the presence of Dr. Aram Muhamad, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Regional Government the 23th Round of Graduation Celebration of Erbil Polytechnic University is held under the name of “Towards a Strong Kurdistan” in the yard of Erbil Technical Administration Institute in Erbil city. In this 23th Round of Graduation Celebration, 3 thousand and 300 hundred students received the certification of bachelor and diploma, whom are meant to become the current personnel of Labor Market in Kurdistan Regional Government.
In the beginning of the celebration, Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University delivered a statement. In his statement, his Excellency said: “Good day to all respectful EPU alumni, good day to the respectful families and relatives of the alumni, good day to the instructors and staff of EPU, who are the key of persistence and symbol of privilege, their struggle planted the will of success inside the soul of this group of students who will receive their graduation certification today” His Excellency also said: “We named this Round of the EPU Graduation Celebration ‘Towards a strong Kurdistan’ because it is paralleled to the symbol of KRG.
In his speech, EPU Rector assured that the key of a successful Labor market is to prepare qualified professional cadres to fulfill the gaps in Kurdistan Labor market in order to develop country economy. EPU has made this issue its priority and targeted plan. As we included this issue into our plans for the new Cabinet of Kurdistan and emphasised on performing the best. His Majesty visualised the vital role of the instructors, faculty members and students of the university to the attendees of the event. He said: ”They consistently strived and struggled to face all the difficulties that KRG went through during the last few years. So, pride is all mine to warmly congratulate them”.
Assistant Professor Dr. Kawa Sherwani said: “We now work on the implementation of Bologna Process and ECTS System to conduct a special conference about the projects and researches of the students, which are a part of our strategic plan to give importance to these new departments and try to open them in our university”.
His Excellency reassured the alumni that EPU in collaboration with Ministry of Plan, Ministry of Labor, Chamber of Commerce and private sectors in Kurdistan Regional Government will work together on how to achieve job opportunities for them. Recently, some specializations and new jobs exist which could not be seen in the past. Due to these developments, EPU attempts to enhance and develop the specializations of Health, Petroleum, Minerals, Tourism, Information System and languages and some other technical fields so as to help EPU alumni to find the best job opportunities in the nearest future.
Finally, the Rector of EPU offered his last advice to the alumni and Said: “Dear EPU Alumni, learning Process will never come to end, but will constantly develop paralleled with life continuation. So, your learning process must not stop but you ought to learn continuously for example, the ones who know English language are able to be more skilful in computer programs and are capable of finding jobs easier. That is why, after your graduation, never give up in learning process”.
