The Kurdistan Union of the Students Reward the Directorate and the Staff of The Public Registration Department With Honorary Certificate

On Wednesday 27th of January, 2021, the Rector of the EPU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani in collaboration with the Secretary of the Kurdistan Union of Students, Nechirvan Hussein Kalari, the Head of the Branch Two of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Ms. Sakar Ghazi, and several members of the Council of the EPU and some chief staff of the students arranged a ceremony to award the Directorate and the staff of the Public Registration Department with an honorary certificate in the Conference Hall of the university.
The ceremony began with the Kurdish national anthem music (Ei Reqib) and a moment standing for honoring the martyrs’ souls. Then, the Head of the Students Office of the EPU, Mr. Hussein Tovee delivered a speech, welcomed the attendees, and expressed his warm gratitude towards the Public Registration Department directorate and staff that served the students’ affairs semi-like Peshmergas.
Then, the Rector of the university expressed his appreciation towards the efforts of the Students’ Union Office that they made for arranging the ceremony, and he talked about the activities and great works of his assistant for students’ affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousif Mustafa Rasul, the Director of the Public Registration, Mr. Sarsam Khalil Shwani, and the employees of this department. At the end of this event, they offered honorary certificates to them.

The International Relations Office Of Erbil Polytechnic University Announces Scholarships In Turkey

The International Relations Office of Erbil Polytechnic University would like to announce Turkish scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Turkey. These scholarships are fully-funded, and the successful candidate will receive study leave from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research-KRG after fulfilling all requirements.

The university that the candidate will apply for should be among the universities accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research-KRG. The application date starts from 10th January -20th February 2021. For further more information, please visit www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr.

The Rector of the University Received the Higher Education and Education Committee of the Parliament

On Sunday 24st of January 2021, the EPU Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani received the Higher Education and Education Committee of the Parliament.

The Higher Education and Education Committee of the Parliament members consisted of Asst. Prof. Dr. Galawezh Ubed Sian, the Higher Education, and Education Committee Director of the Parliament, Mr. Shamol Ashti Sabir, the Committee member, and Dr. Chwas Hussein Rasul, the Committee Consultant.

In this meeting, they discussed the education process and the obstacles that affect this process.

Conflict Intersection Funded Project in Collaboration with the University of Edinburgh (Scotland)

Erbil Polytechnic University (EPU), in collaboration with ten universities, organizations, and research centers, has been awarded a global challenge research fund by the UK government. This fund has been applied by the University of Edinburgh in Scotland to provide better health in food security in fragile and conflict-affected states. The partners include the University of Edinburgh (leading partner), Council for at Risk Academy (CARA) in the UK, Syrian Academic Expertise for Agriculture and Food Security (SAE-AFS), University of Aberdeen (Scotland), University of Kent (UK), Development Workshop (Turkey), Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University (Turkey), Çukurova University (Turkey), Waterwhelm (Scotland) and Yarmouk University (Jordan).

The Food Security Intelligence and Evidence-based Interventions for Local Sustainable Development in Fragile and Conflict-affected States (FIELD) network aim to improve long-term resilience measures and preparedness for Planetary Health (food, health, and environmental) security threats through the creation of an expert information ecosystem that is appropriate for the states.

Obtaining funds and grants are a huge part of the internationalization strategy of the university. The university, through its five technical colleges and seven institutes, has the expertise in the fields of agriculture, health, food, and environment to collaborate and facilitate with the partner university in this project. Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Omar Yassen, Head of Cultural Relations in the International Relations Office at EPU, is the coordinator of this project. The EPU will provide input into the research and development workshops. This work will be done in collaboration with Dr. Lisa Boden and her colleagues from the University of Edinburgh who will strengthen research capacities amongst the Syrian researchers and their connections to key decision-makers amongst international respondents to the Syrian crisis and different fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS).

This funding will be used to solidify a network of expertise and build on previous works to develop a roundtable meeting. The EPU will host three workshops and co-develop a research agenda that is agile enough to respond to emerging food, health, and environmental threats.
