According to the International Scopus Database, the most reliable database worldwide, five Erbil Polytechnic University lecturers were registered in the best top Kurdistan Region universities regarding citation due to publishing highly qualified research in the Civil Engineering field.
It is worth mentioning that self-citation has not been considered, which is why the classification is entirely reliable. To trustworthy the data, our university put the Scopus link of the EPU researcher below.

On Wednesday 16th of February 2022, under the observation of our university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani and availability of several EPU Council Members, Lecturers, Water Field Experts, the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry Dam General Directors, and the EPU Scientific Research Center arranged a symposium at the Celebration Hall of the Erbil Polytechnic University Presidency.
The symposium started with a moment standing to honor the martyrs’ Soul, then, our university Scientific Research Center General Director Asst. Pro. Dr. Hemn Kakakhan Awlla, as the Rector’s Representative, delivered a speech. He welcomed the attendees, and he briefly talked about water crises and the factors behind holding the symposium.
The symposium subjects consisted of four panels, Displacement in Iraq Risks for Water Shortage-Induced, Rainfall Forecasting as a Tool for Future Water Management Planning, Government Policy Framework, and Rainfall Water Harvesting.
At the first part of the first panel, the Head of the Cultural Relations Union of the EPU International Relations Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Omer Yassin delivered a presentation about ‘Water Shortage Risks upon Displacement in Iraq. He accurately talked about water’s lack of influence on immigration in Iraq and the world. He said people are obliged to immigrate because of rain shortage or floods. To shed light on humanity and the universe future, he presented several data and predictions of international establishments and organizations.
The Land and Water Department Lecturer of the Agricultural Sciences of the Saladin University Asst. Prof. Dr. Tariq Hama Karim presented in the second part of the first panel under the “Rainfall Forecasting as a tool for future water management planning” title. He focused on dealing with the predictions in the future and said, “We should have a plan for water wealth management to decrease environmental damage in our country.”
In the first part of the second panel, the Kurdistan Region Dams General Director of the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry Engineer Rahman Khani delivered a subject about “Government Policy Framework for Water Wealth.” He clarified government strategy and policy for water fortune and reliable information regarding the Agriculture and Water Resources ministry. He also talked about water lack issues and problems in the past few years, despite the Kurdistan Region rainfall. This crisis is in Turkey and Iran as they build dams on both Zei Gawra and Zei Bchuk rivers. In another part of his presentation, Engineer Rahman Khani spoke about the dams that the government is planning to build by taking which one is more important to be built firstly into consideration. The significance of these dams is to benefit from rainfall in winter and spring.
At the last part of the second panel, the Water Resources Department Head of the Engineering College at the Saladin University Asst. Prof. Dr. Jihan Mohammad Fatah talked about a subject named “Rainfall Water Harvesting.” In this presentation, he focused on the method of rainfall water harvesting; some of them are so expensive, but others are chip. He also mentioned the best ways of water harvesting that many countries use.
At the end of the symposium discussion and question, the gate opened for attendees responded by the panelists—finally, the EPU Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani presented a brief statement in which he expressed his gratitude towards our University Scientific Research Center for arranging this symposium. He also thanked the Kurdistan Region Dams General Director at the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry, Mr. Rahman Khani, experts, and water resources field lecturers for the data and suggestions they offered. He said water is an effective gun for now, and future countries can use it against each other.
Later, the EPU Rector offered the honorary certificate to the panelists.
On Tuesday, 15th of February 2022, the Erbil Polytechnic University arranged a Statistics Database workshop for Technical Colleges and Institutes Statistics Head Units. In this event, our university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani, his Assistants, the University Council Members, and the Technical Colleges and Institutes Statistics Head Units were available.
In the beginning, the EPU Rector presented a statement in which he welcomed the attendees and Technical Colleges and Institutes Statistics Head Units. He talked about the importance of statistics and the information bank system in the university and the obstacles and problems the university faced in statistics. For this reason, he hoped that this new database could solve these issues.
Then, the Statistics and Information Bank Director, Mr. Salar Dlawar talked about the benefits and aims of this process in detail. Later, he clarified the information usage and collection and put them on the university website. He said, “After database introduction, we will arrange a workshop for Technical Colleges and Institutes Statistics Head Units.”
After the database introduction, the Statistics and Information Bank Director, Mr. Salar Dlawar, performed a workshop in the Seminar Hall. The representatives and Head Units of the colleges and institute were available. Mr. Salar Dlawar practically explained the way of using the database.
On Tuesday 15th of February 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University completed a First-Aid training course which the Health and Safety Department opened for the EPU lecturers and students. In this event, our university Rector, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani, his Assistants, the University Council Members, and Directors of the EPU Presidency were available.
In the Beginning, our university Rector offered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and expressed his gratitude towards the Health and Safety Directorate for successfully managing the course.
This course lasted for six days from 07 to 15th of February 2022. Artistic Director Mr. Mujahid Fatih Mohammed supervised it. The aim behind this training course was to make the EPU staff and Lecturers familiar with first aid by presenting theoretical and practical lessons such as protecting people from death, especially when they are in trouble, fixing the health situation of the wounded person, decreasing pain, and transferring the injured person accurately to the nearest health center.
After fulfilling the course, the EPU Rector and Council Members offered the certificate of participation over the participants.
