Erbil Polytechnic University Receives Netherlands’ Consulate General Erbil Secretary

On Sunday 13th of March 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Asst. Prof Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani Received Netherlands’ Consulate General Erbil Secretary Suzanne Tossings, her delegation, and the SPARK International Organization delegation.

In a meeting where both the university Rector Assistants for Scientific Affairs and Students Affairs, Directors were present, they talked about the mutual project between our University and SPARK. This project includes refugees and displaced people sanitation and support in the Kurdistan Region that continues for three years.

The aim of Netherlands’ Consulate General Erbil Secretary visit was to determine the quality of working on the project and communicate cooperation and supports in the future to succeed the project.

Erbil Polytechnic University Holds a Seminar To Celebrate Women’s World Day

On Tuesday, 8th March 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University arranged a “Gender Difference in Community and Region’s View Point” seminar. Three panelists managed the colloquium, Dr. Heshu Rebwar Ali, Dr. Mawlud Khidher Qarani, and Ms. Avan Fars Jaf.

At the beginning of the activity, the EPU Rector presented a speech in which he welcomed the Transport and Communications Minister, Mr. Ano Jawhar, ladies, the University Council Members, lecturers, and guests. He congratulated the university and world women for the 8th March day, and he hoped this ceremony make a difference in the development of women’s rights fields in the Kurdistan Region and the World. In another part of his speech, the university Rector said: “We as the Erbil Polytechnic University see it as our duty to conduct a frank dialogue about the Kurdistan Community perspective to the women’s rights and duties, debate, and conduct serious research regarding this issue. Finally, I again congratulate Kurdistan and world women.”

The session panel began with the supervision of Dr. Selar Othman, in which the panelists discussed the problems and obstacles women face in the community and institutions in their daily activities. They also talked about women’s capacity in all life aspects despite their maternity and family duties. Then, the discussion gate opened for the audience to direct their questions and comments, which were responded to accurately by the panelists. Finally, the university Rector offered honorary certificates to the panelists and coordination committee members.

Erbil Polytechnic University celebrates Women’s World’s Day by performing special activities. This year the university will formally offer appreciation and gratitude letters to all women employees.

Erbil Polytechnic University And SPARK International Organization Fulfilled A Training Course

On Sunday 6th of 2022, our university and SPARK International Organization celebrated the fulfillment of another training course for students for building capacity, “Innovation Hub Lab,” in the Canyon Hotel Erbil. Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani, SPARK Official members, EPU Council members, and EPU Director were available at this event.

It is worth mentioning; Holland Exterior Ministry supported this project for four days. It aimed to build a strong bridge between universities and private sector companies through finding a solution for obstacles the companies face by the talented innovator students. Three universities, our university, Northern Technical University, Musul University, and three companies participated in this project. Finally, the attendees received a Certificate of Participation.

Erbil Polytechnic University Announces Youth Mappers Students Chapter Project

On Tuesday 1st of March 2022, Erbil Polytechnic University introduced EPU Youth Mappers Chapter Program at the EPU Presidency Celebration Hall. Our university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry Consultants Dr. Sabah and Dr. Amir, the EPU Council Members, Experts, and Lecturers attended this event.

The university Rector explained this program and its establishment background for the participants at the beginning of the ceremony and welcomed them for participating in the program introduction. He said, “Youth Mappers consists of many Students, Researchers, and lecturers who use available technology and general data to determine and introduce the obstacles that face any country development. In the whole world, university students actively join a program available for all people, called the OSM platform. The students digitize a map of where they live to benefit their community.

The primary purpose of opening this chapter in the Erbil Polytechnic University is to develop and build our youth capacity to lead and develop our country through a mapping.

Later, Engineer Mohammed Faisal delivered a seminar. He talked about how those students of Erbil Polytechnic University work on this program. He clarified the program’s goal and benefits in general for Kurdistan and experts, governmental and non-governmental institutions, private sectors, and citizens. He also spoke about recent Erbil City disasters that caused several damages because of floods and constant raining. He also talked about avoiding such catastrophes, pre regulations and procedures to prevent them, and the factors of these natural events.

Then, the university Rector rewarded the active students of this program. Later, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research consultants offered the Honorary Certificate to the lecturers and students.

EPU Youth Mappers Students Chapter consists of several EPU students who work throughout the world to support humanity through digitizing a map of their places where they face disasters because of nature or man-made tragedies to help and support citizens by humanitarian sanitation and facilitation. This step will be a support for governmental and non-governmental establishments and humanitarian organizations.

The Director of Youth mappers and a Co-Founder of the network Dr. Patricia Solis congratulated the Erbil Polytechnic University for creating the Youth-Mappers chapter and welcomed them to join more than 300 youth net groups and campuses in 65 countries around the world, which can make a big difference by mapping their world.
