Erbil Polytechnic University and Kurdistan Innovation Institute have signed a memorandum of understanding

On Thursday, the 23rd of November, 2023, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki received a delegation of Kurdistan Innovation Institute (K.I.I) included Dr. Sarbaz Najib Othman, Vice Chairman of the Board and Co-Executive Director (K.I.I), Dr. Azad Najar, Board Member and Co-Executive Director of K.I.I and their accompanying delegation.

In the meeting Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar the Dean of the Erbil Technology College, and Asst. Prof. Dr.  Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the Director of the International Relations Office of EPU were present. Both sides emphasized on cooperation and collaboration in the field of innovation and using the ability and talent of university teachers and students in areas related to Kurdistan’s economic development and building an industrial base, especially in the field of energy using natural resources.

In this meeting, both sides agreed to hold a forum on developing innovation skills for some of the teachers and students of our university by experts in (K.I.I), as well as introduce them to the vision, goals and strategy of Kurdistan Innovation Institute (K.I.I).

Afterwards, a memorandum of understanding was signed by both sides which includes the following points:

  • Exchanging of new knowledge and ideas in the field of innovation.
  • Cooperation and collaboration for the development and promotion of student projects.
  • Conducting conferences and workshops to develop the skills of students and teachers in the field of innovation.
  • Participation in conferences, seminars and workshops of each side by the staff of the other side.
  • Visiting each other’s centers, laboratories and workshops by the staff from both parties.
  • To benefit from participating in the international conferences on innovation.
  • To Provide global funding for innovation projects.

The Rector of the University receives a delegation from the British Council in Iraq

On Tuesday, the 22nd of November, 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University, received a delegation of the British Council, which consisted of Mr. Ammar Tariq, the Head of the Department of Education and representative of the English Language Tests Department and Mr. Nashuan from the Department of Education.

In the meeting, where Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the Director of the International Relations Office of our university was present, both parties discussed to strengthen the relations of our university with the universities of the UK through British Council that has strong relations with the British universities.

In another part of the meeting, they suggested that the British Council provide financial support to expand and strengthen academic relationships.

In the same meeting, the method of English language examinations was discussed and it was requested that the Language Center of our university become an IELTS examination center.

A workshop on Bologna Process and Database System (ECTS) was Arranged for the Academic Staff of the Koya Technical Institute

Erbil Polytechnic University conducted a workshop on Bologna Process and Database System (ECTS) for the lecturers of the Koya Technical Institute.

The workshop was organized by the Bologna Process and Database Systems (ECTS) Committees of the University Presidency. Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar, the Chairman of the Bologna Process Committee; Dr. Dilêr Abdullah, Member of the Bologna Process Committee; Mr. Goran Maghdid was held in which the latest developments and improvements of both systems were explained to the participants and teachers.

In the workshop, the Chairman of the Bologna Process High Committee of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar talked about the new steps and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for this academic year.

Afterwards, Dr. Dilêr Abdullah explained the requirements of the Bologna system to the heads of departments and teachers. Then, Mr. Rebwar Khalid Hamad talked about the technical mistakes that the heads of departments and teachers have made in the database system (ECTS) in recent years, and Mr. Yasin Hamid Rashid highlighted the changes made in the interface and working methods of the system.

Finally, Mr. Goran Maghdid highlighted the new commands of the system and talked about the latest additions to the system that will be available for this academic year.
