On Wednesday, the 4^th of October, 2023, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, the Dean of Erbil Technical Administration Institute, the Director of the Scientific Research Center, and several directors of the university a scientific panel entitled (How to develop creativity in the classroom?) was held at the Cultural Center of the Erbil Polytechnic University for the lecturers of technical colleges and institutes.

At the beginning of the panel, the university Rector delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests and said: “First of all, on behalf of the Presidency of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the University Council, I would like to welcome Dr. Abdulsalam Madani, Dr. Farhad Ali, Mr. Abdullah Saleh and Mr. Zanyar Jabar who are our teachers and today they will hold a panel together. We also welcome the teachers of the Erbil Polytechnic University who are present with us today to participate in this panel. Dear teachers, what I want to say is that university teachers constantly need to develop their skills. In my perspective, university teachers are always teachers and learners, which means they are teachers and students at the same time. They must constantly work to learn because his job is to be a teacher and teach students, so we must constantly be able to develop the skills of our university teachers. In this regard, today with the assistance of Creativity Week in Iraq, we perform an activity which is supervised by our teacher, Mr. Zanyar Jabar. We are pleased to be able to hold a panel today on a very important topic for teachers, which is an innovative topic on how teachers can be creative in the classroom. Therefore, we thought it necessary to make our teachers in the Erbil Polytechnic University be more familiar with this subject. If a teacher can be crreative in his teaching methods and goals in the classroom, we can call him a successful teacher. Then his students will be more successful and comfortable than the students of other teachers I hope that teachers can benefit from this panel today. As the university presidency, we will continue to hold such courses, panels, seminars, and activities for our teachers to benefit from. Welcome again and hope you enjoy.”

Then the panel consisted of several topics and was presented in a detailed and scientific manner by the panelists to the audience. Then the panelists opened the door of discussion for the teachers and they directed their questions, comments, criticisms and suggestions that were answered by the panelists.

At the end of the panel, teachers were asked to answer these questions through a form to further enrich the activity.

What is creativity and why is it important?

What is the role of creativity in education?

Why should take creativity into great consideration in universities?

How can teachers foster a culture of creativity and innovation within their classrooms? To encourage creativity in an organized process?

It is worth mentioning that the Rector presented the certificates of appreciation to the panelists including Dr. Abdulsalam Madani, Dr. Farhad Ali, Mr. Zanyar Jabbar, and Mr. Abdullah Saleh.

On Monday, the 2^nd of October, 2023, in three separate ceremonies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousif Mustafa Rasul, the Vice Rector for the Student Affairs and Mr. Kamal Mohammed Abdullah, the Director of the Quality Assurance of the Erbil Polytechnic University, offered the appreciation certificates to the lecturers who passed the quality assurance assessments in the Erbil Technology College, the Erbil Medical Technical Institute, and the Erbil Technical Administrative Institute.

The Dean of the Erbil Technology College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar, the Dean of Erbil Technical Administration Institute College of Asst. Prof. Dr. Brzo Hamza Dizeyi, and the Dean of Erbil Technical Medical Institute Mr. Umed Arshad Hawezi were present. On behalf of the university Rector, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousif Mustafa Rasul expressed his warm gratitude towards the academic staff. He said: “The quality assurance process is an important process for the colleges and institutes lecturers that improves  the level of teachers in domestic and international rankings.

Erbil Polytechnic University gives the opportunity of participating to the students of Erbil Polytechnic University (EPU) to participate in the annual conference (Association of Deanship of Sstudents Affairs Administrations) which will be held from the 18^th to 21^st of February, 2024 at Al-Ain University.

Terms and needs:

1- The conference will last for (5) days from 18/02 to 22/02/2024

2- Students (all grades + graduates) can now participate with a research in the following specialties:

       a- Attractive Educational Environment (includes all specialties)

      b- Artificial Intelligence (Specialties include ISE, ICT).

      c- Digital Media and its role in support and Initiative (Media Specialist)

      d- Social media and its impact on university students, advantages and disadvantages (media expert)

     e- Sustainable Development (Engineering Specialty)

     f- Support and Preservation of National Heritage (Tourism Specialist)

     g- The impact of volunteer work in the student’s life (includes all specialties)

     h- Opportunities and challenges in universities and after graduation (includes all specialties)

3- The conditions for writing the research must be as follows:

  1- In Arabic or English Language.

      2- Be on one of the above specialties.

      3- According to the requirements of writing the research, and not published anywhere else.

      4- Write in font (14) and language (Times New Roman).

      5- Margins (2.5) bits.

4- After the approval of your department heads, the presentation will be directly at the conference link:

Note:

1. Providing visa and airline tickets are on the student.

2- Accommodation and daily expenses will be provided by the host university, i.e. Al-Ain University.

In a unique step, Erbil Polytechnic University in collaboration with THM University of Germany will establish a laboratory for the renewable energy in Erbil.

This step of the two universities occurred during the official visit of the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, his accompanying delegation, and the academic staff of the Erbil Polytechnic University to Germany and with the President of THM University of Germany.

In the meeting, both sides discussed the joint project between them that began at the beginning of 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

In the framework of collaboration between the Erbil Polytechnic University and University of Applied Sciences (THM) Germany and after receiving the fund and implementation of a joint project entitled (Academic Education in the field of Renewable Energies).  The project is implemented by an expert professor at THM University and funded by the German DAAD.

They also talked about other steps of relations between the two universities, especially strengthening these relations in terms of exchange of teachers and staff and benefit from each other’s experience and expertise in various fields.

The Rector and THM University staff expressed their pleasure to work together with the Erbil Polytechnic University to successfully complete this important project within two years.

They also discussed the future work between the two universities, especially within the framework of the exchange program of higher education students to obtain master’s and doctoral degrees, in addition to the exchange of university students who visit countries before graduation.

The aim of the establishment of the renewable energy laboratory project in our university by the German university was to take steps to build a department of the renewable energy in the Erbil Technology College of the Erbil Polytechnic University, which will be admitted this year.

It is worth mentioning that this project began in 2022 and all the equipment for this laboratory is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year
