The Presidency of Erbil Polytechnic University Has Honored Several Academic Staff Of The University

Today on Thursday, November 7, 2019, with the presence of Assistant Prof. Dr. Kawa Sherwani, the President, the vice president and the faculty members of the university has honored more than 60 active faculties and academic staff of EPU for the Achievements they have received for database Quality assurance process in the academic year of 2018-2019.

It is worth to be mentioned that this ceremony has been arranged by the responsible and committee members of the quality assurance of EPU.

Erbil Polytechnic University Has Held A Workshop About Internationalization And Sustainability Of Higher Education

Today on 11th of November, 2019, Erbil Polytechnic University (EPU) has conducted a two hours workshop about “Internationalization and Sustainability of Higher Education”. This workshop is presented by Professor Dr.Majid Hashimipour, the Vice President of Cyprus International University who concentrated on the sustainability of higher education, energy saving. He also discussed how to improve the ranking of the university and recruitment and international students. During the workshop, he showed some of the samples that the students collaboratively worked on to make the campus environmentally friendly and reduce wastage.

A Delegation Of Erbil Polytechnic University Visiting The University Of Pisa European

A Deligation of Erbil Polytechnic University with 18 other representatives of universities, ministries, and UNESCO  have visited The University of Pisawho work to renew the system of higher education in their countries. The delegation of EPU represented by Dr. Hemen Kaka Khan Awla, the Director of Scientific Research Center and Dr. Saman Abdulqader Hussein, the director of the Language Center.

The Purpose of the visit is to be able to study closely how the courses of study according to the principles of student-centered learning are aligned in Europe, aligned with the universities of the 48 countries that implement the ‘Bologna Process’. Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, thanks to the UNESCO project, have already created a framework of qualifications and an accreditation system.

For a week, EPU will visit departments and laboratories of the University of Pisa as part of a project led by UNESCO, funded by the European Commission, created to renew the TVET curricula (Vocational Higher Education) aligned them with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and then of the “Bologna Process”. The delegations of Iraq consist of the three polytechnic universities of the Kurdistan Region (EPU, SPU, and DPU) and the four major technical universities of Iraq, including that of Mosul.

EPU Staff Recruitment for an International Virtual Challenge between EPU Students and USA Students

After almost completion of the first cohort of the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge Program, the International Office in collaboration with IREX Organization announces the second cohort for Spring 2020. This program focuses on cultural exchange, business sustainability and development, and making a difference in the community. Moreover, students will gain workforce skills of entrepreneurial thinking, cross cultural communication, team collaboration, empathy, critical thinking, creative problem solving, adaptability, and human centred design thinking. They will also develop solutions for real global challenges and expand access to a professional network,

In this year’s challenge, only Erbil Polytechnic University, Sulaimani Polytechnic University, and Anbar University, from Kurdistan region and Iraq. The selected staff will go through the recruitment phase by the International Office then it will be nominated to participate in an extensive two days training program on how to run and guide students who participate in the program.

The requirements:

  1. The facilitator (applicant) must speak English language fluently in order to communicate with partners in the USA.
  2. The facilitator must be available for at least four hours per week.
  3. The program will run in the afternoon, mostly between 3-7 pm. This is because of the time difference between the USA and our students’ classes.
  4. The facilitator must be committed to complete the program within 10 weeks.
  5. Once selected, it will be the responsibility of the facilitator to recruit students.

It worth mentioning that the top three finalist teams win a grant to make their prototype a reality. The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge Program is a virtual exchange in partnership with American students in the USA and Jordanian students in Jordan. The program is supported by Stevens Initiative, sponsored by the US Department of State, administered by Aspen Institute, and implemented by IREX.

The interview process will take place on 5th November 2019 at 10:00 am in the International Office of EPU Presidency. The interested applicants must attend the interview where they will be given further details about the program.
