Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute Participated in UNIMED General Assembly
Alongside His Excellency Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhammad Tahir, the President of Erbil Polytechnic University (EPU),Dr Talib Omer, Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute participated in the UNIMED General Assembly held at Istanbul Aydin University on October 23-24, 2024. This two-day assembly brought together university presidents, professors, deans, government officials, and representatives from UNIMED’s network spanning 28 countries.

The event offered an invaluable platform for exchanging perspectives and establishing policies for UNIMED’s initiatives in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

It is noteworthy that EPU, as a member of the Mediterranean Union of Universities, received an official invitation to participate in this prestigious assembly in Turkey.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the delegation fostered collaborative relationships and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Istanbul Aydin University.

Dean of the Mergasor Technical Institute participates in the meeting of the President of Kurdistan Region of Iraq

On Monday, September 23, 2024, President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration and officials of the administrative units of Soran Independent Administration

In the meeting, Dr. Talib Mohammed Sharif Omar, Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute, was present as one of the officials of the region. Mr. President spoke about the progress and significant changes in the region and said that after the decision to be independent govern, Soran has seen many changes I am happy to see Soran with these changes. I congratulate the supervisor of the independent administration of Soran and all of you. The people of Soran deserve more. Soran has been the center of Kurdish revolutions.

For their part, the officials of the Soran Independent Administration thanked the President for his continuous support to their work.

 

Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute Welcomes Beekeeping Experts and Academics

Today 9Sep2024, in a collaborative step towards enhancing the academic and practical resources of the institution’s Beekeeping Department, Dr Talib Omer, the Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute
welcomed a team of beekeeping experts, academics, and the Head of Beekeepers of the Kurdistan Region.

The visit, held at the institution’s campus, focused on addressing the needs and challenges face by the Beekeeping Department in Mergasor.

The experts and academics shared their insights on current industry trends, research opportunities, and practical applications essential for the department’s development.

The discussions aimed to provide students with a better understanding of the scientific and business aspects of beekeeping, ensuring they are well-prepared for future careers in the field.

Key topics of the meeting included improving student access to fieldwork opportunities, enhancing laboratory facilities for research, and fostering partnerships with local beekeepers.

The Head of Beekeepers of the Kurdistan Region emphasized the importance of practical experience and offered recommendations on how the department can further support student engagement with the local beekeeping community.

The Dean expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that the institution is committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and developing its programs to align with the region’s growing needs.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to continue close collaboration to ensure the success of the Beekeeping Department and its students.

This initiative marks a significant step in advancing both academic excellence and community service in the field of Agriculture within the region.

 

Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute participates in a GSSC workshop

On Thursday and Friday, September 5-6, 2024, Dr. Talib Mohammed Sharif Omer the Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute-Erbil Polytechnic University participated in an intensive workshop entitled “Global Solutions Sustainable Challenge” for a number of universities.
The workshop lasted for two days in Erbil Radisson Hotel and was dedicated to an eight-week program to connect students from Iraqi and Jordanian universities with students from US universities.
The purpose of the workshop was to create the best sustainable business solutions issues. Throughout the completions, students will develop the skills to collaborate across different cultures, solve problems, team working, and innovative business concept.
This program (The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge) is run under the Stevens Initiative, which is implemented by IREX, is a virtual business competition that connects college students in the United States, Jordan, and Iraq on binational teams to virtually collaborate on a sustainable solution to local challenges related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Bi-national teams engage during an eight-week period through the design thinking process to ideate a sustainable solution to real needs in their local communities. Global Solutions uses virtual exchange to improve mutual understanding and problem-solving skills among students. Throughout the challenge, participants develop workforce skills and network with industry professionals.
Global Solutions is implemented by IREX and is supported by the J. Christopher Stevens Virtual Exchange Initiative (JCSVEI). JCSVEI is a U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs program administered by the Aspen Institute.
