In the UK, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University held several scientific and academic meetings

Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, paid an official visit to the UK last week with a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research consisted several ministry advisors, general directors and the presidents of Salahaddin, Sulaimaniya, Duhok, and Garmian universities.

The main purpose of the visit was to establish partnerships and collaboration between the universities of the Kurdistan Region and the UK. In this context, they visited a number of universities in the UK and held a series of academic and scientific meetings.

During the visit of the high delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region to the University of Nottingham, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki shed light on the structure of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the scientific departments that our university needs more cooperation and support  especially the new ones which are rare in the Kurdistan Region and the region.

They also emphasized the internationalization of the university, participation and partnership of our university in the fields of research, exchange of teachers and students, review of curricula and assistance to train teachers in the fields that our university needs.

During the visit of the high-level delegation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region to the UK, they visited Loughborough University, where the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University delivered a seminar.

In the seminar, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki focused on the history and structure of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the university data and curricula, as well as higher education programs and the number of higher education students in higher diploma, master and doctorate in our university.

Then, the President of the Erbil Polytechnic University spoke about the needs of the scientific departments that are new in our university and have been opened as the needs of the labor market and need more support.

During their visit to the UK, the delegation visited both Aston and Sussex Universities and after their meetings they visited the laboratories and scientific departments of the universities.

Our university presidency plans to establish long-term academic and scientific relations with these universities and to follow up on the content of the understandings established with these universities.

The Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University participates in the scientific activities of the Erbil Technical Health and Medicine College

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, participated in the Natural Therapy Festival at the Erbil Technical Health and Medicine College.

In the festival, the Dean Assistant of the Assistant, the Head of the Department of Natural Therapy and a number of teachers and students were present.

The students explained their posters to the university Rector and the audience.

It is worth mentioning that the Department of Natural Therapy of the Assistant conducts this scientific activity every year and the students display their posters within an exhibition.

The Rector of the University receives the General Consul of India in Erbil

On Thursday, the 14th of December, 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, received Mr.  Madan Gopal, the General Consul of India in Erbil.

In the meeting where the  Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the Dean of Mergasor Technical Institute, the Directors of the International Relations Office, and Public Registration of the university presidency were present, they discussed establishing relationships between Erbil Polytechnic University and universities in India in scientific and academic terms.

Another topic of the meeting was opening of a corner in the central library of the Erbil Polytechnic University called India Library Corner which contains a significant number of important resources in the fields of (medicine, nursing, agriculture, herbal medicine, beekeeping, administration, and English Language).

Whilst, the new Indian Consul in Erbil promised to continue their relations with our university and further develop it and are ready for any cooperation in the academic field.

Several scientific and academic activities were held within the framework of collaboration and strengthening academic relations between Erbil Polytechnic University and the Consulate of India.

One of the activities was the opening of the Indian Library Corner in the central library of the university and they donated some valuable books to our university library. In the future, they will provide more academic books to our university. A sports activity was also held where some of the students practiced yoga.

Then, Dr. Talib the Dean of the Mergasor Technical Institute, delivered a speech. He talked about the importance of academic relationships, and the common points that India and the Kurdistan Regional Government have such as respect for culture, multicultural coexistence, and progress in this aspect. He also said: “We believe that the new Indian Consul will be a good cooperator to strengthen and build collaboration between Kurdistan universities in general, especially collaboration and strengthening the relationship between the Erbil Polytechnic University and top universities in India. The Consul will be the bridge of this relationship to further serve the country and further develop the academic field of the country and our university in particular.”

Later, another activity was held in which the Indian Consul delivered a seminar. He explained the study and its quality in India to the participants. He also clarified procedures of appling for the scholarships for the international students. Some of these scholarships according to their requirements free of charge and then all expenses will be borne by the Government of India.

Indian universities and their departments serve 180 countries of the world. The General Consul of India expressed his contribution to serve the students, employees and teachers of the Erbil Polytechnic University to apply for the scholarships.

Erbil Polytechnic University Arranges a Workshop on English teaching in colleges and institutes

Today, Thursday, the 14th of December, 2023, a workshop entitled Technical English was held for English teachers in all colleges and institutes of the Erbil Polytechnic University.

At the beginning, a welcome speech was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education. Then, a seminar was delivered by Dr. Dashne Azad Siddiq entitled “Curriculum Development for English Language”.

Then, a panel on Technical English was presented by the authors of the book, how to teach and the obstacles facing the book, after receiving questions and suggestions were answered by the authors.

Finally, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education presented certificates of appreciation to the authors.
