An Announcement for the Erbil Polytechnic University Alumni and Students to participate in the Dastpek Competition

The Career Development Center Department of the Erbil Polytechnic University announces the graduates and students of the 3rd and 4th grade colleges that our university is participating in the Dastpek Competition along with six other universities in the Kurdistan Region, which is organized by the German Organization(GIZ) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government which is funded by the European Union.

For this purpose, any graduate or student of the 3rd and 4th grade of technical colleges who wish to participate in the competition can register through the link below.

“Dastpek” is a business initiative competition that encourages university alumni and students to develop their own business ideas and work to establish their own businesses. In the first phase, (60) graduates and students will benefit.

Through this project, graduates and students (third and fourth grades) of the Erbil Polytechnic University colleges can participate in a two-day training course and work on building a work project in team form, then two teams will be selected for the next phase of the competition alongside other teams participated universities in this program.

  For one month, these selected teams will receive intensive in-person and online training and counseling as needed in key areas of career development.

In the final stage, in a special ceremony, the selected teams will present their projects and three teams will be the winners of the project and will be supported to further develop and improve their skills by several private sector partners.

The objectives of the project include: (Changing the attitudes of students and graduates about their future work, becoming familiar with business initiatives and business leaders, practical steps to build businesses, promote and enhance the ability of team working in teams practically.

  1. Participants must be graduates or students in (grades 3-4) of the Erbil Polytechnic University.
  2. Applicants must be interested in building their own business and have creative ideas.

A Student Of The Erbil Polytechnic University Successfully Completed An American Program

Helen Hazim Abdul Qadir, a student of the Media Techniques Department at the Erbil Technical Administrative College has successfully completed her program after being admitted to a program affiliated with the US Embassy in Baghdad.

This program was conducted for 26 days in the United States, in which 85 students from Iraq participated, including 25 students from the Kurdistan Region, one of those was a student of our university.

During the program, students attended several different programs organized by American universities, which consisted of (leadership, breadth of construction by youth), and at the end of the program, certificates were awarded to the participants.

Erbil Polytechnic University, German organization (GIZ), and Westga (Station) Institution arrange a meeting for women

On Wednesday, the 2nd of August 2, 2023, Erbil Polytechnic University, German organization (GIZ) and Westga (Station) Institution for Administration and Education of Iraqi and Kurdistan Youth organized a meeting entitled (Strengthening the Economic Position of Women in the Private Sector) in the Presidency of the Erbil Polytechnic University.

In the meeting where the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the Deans of the Erbil Technical Engineering College, the Erbil Technical Administrative Institute, the Mergasor Institute, the representative of the German Embassy in Baghdad, the General Secretary of the Higher Council of Women and several directors of our university were present several speeches were delivered.

At the beginning, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato presented the Rector’s statement in which he welcomed the participants and expressed the university’s pleasure to join and host the meeting, and pointed out that women the Kurdish society and in the political and social history of Kurdistan had a special role Motherhood and child rearing also directly and indirectly supported the Peshmerga struggle and the revolutions.

“Along with the government’s plan and strategy to protect the position of women in society in general and in the country institutions in particular, our university has paid attention to this field and in this context, some of the positions of our university are held by women and we have given them all kinds of support for their success and we will continue with the same view in the future.”

“With the progress of society and providing job opportunities for women, our university is working with a comprehensive plan to provide job opportunities for our graduates. So far, in collaboration with private sector companies, some of our graduates have been provided with job opportunities.”

After the speeches of the representative of the German Embassy in Baghdad and the Secretary of the Higher Council of Women, the panel discussed the role of women in economic development and their participation in all spheres of life and how to empower women to work and become independent in the public and private sectors and change some laws and regulations in the interests of women.

Then, the door of discussion was opened for the participants to express their questions, comments and suggestions and they had an intensive and productive discussion and the meeting ended.

Students of the Erbil Polytechnic University successfully completed their summer internship in the Sultanate of Oman

On Monday, the 31 of July, 2023, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Director of the International Relations Office Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, and Dr. Sarsam Khalil, the General Registry Director received our university students who had visited the Sultanate of Oman for summer internship.

In the interview with the Presidency of our university, the participants were asked to talk about their trip. The students mentioned that they gave seminars there and talked about the Kurdish leaders and culture of the Kurdistan Region to a large part of the people of the country.  Furthermore, they said their trip was successful and they enjoyed. They  hoped such trips will continue in the upcoming years.
