On Sunday, the 21st of Apri, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Azad Hassan Qadir, the Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Abdulrahman Sadiq, the Chairman of the Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation Board; Prof. Dr. Kihan Zrar Ghafoor, the Erbil Technology College organized an environmental workshop and an environmental science exhibition entitled (the Role of Technology in Environmental Protection).
In an event where the directors of the presidency, academic and administrative, and students were present the Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs, read the speech of the Rector which was:

Welcome to a scientific activity of the Erbil Technology College of our university which is an environmental workshop and an environmental science exhibition entitled (The role of technology in the Environmental Protection). I would like to thank the Dean of the Erbil Technology College and the organizers of this event.
ladies and gentlemen,
The environment refers to everything around us that we feel, which can be animal or inanimate, as well as biological, chemical, physical and other forces.
Dear audience.
Unfortunately, in the past few years, some of the changes and developments have had a negative impact on climate change and the environment, resulting in water shortages and drought in several areas.
As an academic center, the university must work to protect the environment with the scientific capabilities of its academic staff.
Increasing the amount of greenery and adapting to new energy are factors that have an impact on reducing negative effects on the environment.
Since taking office as the Presidency of Erbil Polytechnic University, we have taken practical steps in this regard and for this purpose, as the first university in the Kurdistan Region, we opened a department of renewable energy that trains technical staff for the labor market center.
We have worked to increase the amount of greenery and for this purpose we have turned a large area of the campus into a large garden. We also conducted a tree planting campaign on the occasion of March and Newroz.
We also held a conference entitled “Barzan in Resistance for Nationalization (Education, Environmental Protection and Coexistence).
Out of love for the country, people work to raise awareness about environmental protection and reduce the causes of environmental pollution.
I would like to thank all those who work to protect the environment, especially the gardeners and environmentalists of our university who work with the utmost loyalty and patience to keep green and increase the amount of greenery in our university.
I would like to congratulate the Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation Board, our university teachers, environmental organizations that are working as part of the plans of the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government to establish environmental protection programs and implement the plans in this regard.
I hope that the recommendations of this workshop and the topics presented in it will become part of this program and serve this important area of life with scientific recommendations.

This activity with the opening of an environmental exhibition prepared by the teachers and students of the college. The workshop was held in the conference hall of Erbil Technology College with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ali Mahmoud Surdashi, Dr. Rebin Samad, Dr. Shara Kamal, Aso Shakak, Engineer Zhyar Jalal and Ms. Jwan Mahdi as event managers in which the participants discussed in detail the role of technology in environmental protection, the dangers of environmental pollution and how to treat the polluted environment through the use of technology.
