Today, Tuesday, the 14^th of May, 2024, under the supervision of the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki and Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar the Vice University Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education held a seminar entitled “Polytechnic Journal; An Assessment Between Yesterday and Today (A Comprehensive Look at Polytechnic Journal’s Annual Evaluation and Policy Enhancements)”.

In the seminar, the Rector, his assistants, some members of the council, Dr. Karzan Karim Khawrahm, the advisor of the Council of Ministers and Dr. Amir Chali, Advisor of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Galawezh Obaid, and Former Member of Kurdistan Parliament were present.

The guests were welcomed by the Executive Committee of the journal on behalf of the Rector. Prof. Dr. Keyhan Zrar, the Dean of the Erbil Technology College, while the editorial board of the magazine highlighted the magazine and the steps of working and improving it.

Later, Asst. Prof. Karwan Wasman, the Executive Board and the Director of the Polytechnic Magazine welcomed the participants and then reminded the participants that last year at this time on 5/3 the presentation ceremony of Polytechnic Magazine was held in the same place.

He presented some important data to the audience, and explained the reasons for the results of these data, adding that these data are very important for the journal board and for researchers is more important that researchers publish their research in which journal and why they choose this journal.

After a full year of the Polytechnic Journal, they presented several reports that were the results of this year’s work of the Executive Board in which the progress and follow-up of the journal was presented to the audience The journal features research published in all sectors of government, higher education, organizations and businesses around the world, including more than 200 universities and institutes in more than 91 countries. The Polytechnic Journal, which is a gateway for local evaluators to become global evaluators, was also highlighted.

On Tuesday, the 14^th of May, 2024, on the last day of the cultural week of university students under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, organized a seminar entitled (In the Perspective of Educational Stages) for Mr. Ahmad Kani, a university lecturer and member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

In the seminar, the Vice Rectors, members of the University Council, the Heads of Departments and many teachers and students were present.

At the beginning, Mr. Ahmad Kani thanked the Rector and began with an advice to the students: I am pleased today with you teachers and students, dear friends, loving your city and country has an effective influence and touch on your future.

Later, he gave several examples of inventions and efforts of scientists, including the life of Edison and his inventions, saying, “He is not a graduate of any university, he brought the world from darkness to light. There was no area left where he didn’t innovate. Once Edison Said: “I haven’t done anything by chance, but everything I have achieved is the result of continuous work and perseverance.”

By telling you this story I want to say, your progress is in your hands will start within you, not by your teacher, not by your environment, not on your country, your identity is the biggest thing you have. Future is not a vison or a dream but its your upcoming next stage of your life, your future.  Teachers must forgive me for saying something against you and myself. Teachers are not meant to come on the stage and show themselves to students, but must literally give knowledge and information according to modern science, the philosophy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, beginning from the minister to the lecturers, our mission and duty is to serve education and and students.

The student must know what his job is towards the teacher and what his work program is. His eyes and mind must focus on the teachers and their lectures His work and character should be so beautiful that will have a huge positive reflection on teacher to create a great love and respect. He will not forget the love of those teachers until he dies.

On Monday, the 13^th of May, 2024, in the presence of the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, Vice Rectors, the Erbil Polytechnic University Council members, teachers and students, the fourth scientific conference of the Erbil Polytechnic University students was held in Soran Technical College.

The conference began with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs. Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar delivered a speech on behalf of the conference committee and welcomed the participants and spoke about the importance of the conference for students and said: “I am pleased that in a university-wide activity we are all gathered together here. One of the important tasks of the university is to be able to interpret the science we learn and serve a subject It shows the skills and knowledge of you and our university.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, “Student Scientific Conference is an annual conference in which the best projects of students at the level of scientific departments of colleges and technical institutes participate. The purpose of this conference is to present the results of the students’ efforts and skills in carrying out graduation projects with the help and supervision of teachers. There are 57 projects prepared by students in this conference.”

Then, the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki delivered a speech in which he welcomed the teachers and students participating and said: “On behalf of myself and the council of the Erbil Polytechnic University, we welcome you, and congratulate the students who successfully passed these stages and Join the 4th Student Science Conference today.

Ladies and gentlemen, conference preparations are generally carried out in all academic institutions and centers around the world. Each conference does not exceed a few days, but the preparations may take several months or more than a year. It is obvious to all of us what an important role scientific research plays in human life and the development of society, as we see all fields of science such as health science, economics, electronics, agriculture, etc.

Scientific research itself has a significant role in human life and is a door to the progress of society. If scientific research is a door to the progress of society, the key is to publish the research. The easiest way to publish scientific research is through scientific conferences, so one of our most important goals in holding scientific conferences is that you can publish the results of the research at the conference and read and evaluate Researchers who meet and sit together at conferences may exchange ideas, solve each other’s problems, and become familiar with the laboratories and equipment available in scientific centers Take advantage of each other.

In addition to the benefits I mentioned, holding scientific conferences has another influence is that when a scientific conference is held in one country is held again in another country, in this regard, we can benefit from each other’s culture.

We have decided to hold it in a different place every year, one day in Mergasur, one day in Shaqlawa, Soran, Koya, Khabat and Erbil Or why is it useful to hold scientific conferences. 

Therefore, we felt it necessary to pay attention to this issue. This is another lesson for students to know how conferences are held in academic centers and universities.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the conference organizing committee and the deanship of Soran Technical College for hosting the conference.

Afterwards, students’ seminars were held according to the specialized sectors of administration, engineering and technology, medicine, agriculture, which were divided into six seminar halls. The evaluators of different sectors evaluated the students’ projects.

The conference was attended by 57 papers in the fields of management, engineering, technology, medicine and agriculture conducted by 250 students.

At the end of the conference, the Rector of the University, Prof. Idris Harki presented the University Shield to Prof. Sirwan Latif Haji, Dean of Soran Technical College and Chairman of the Conference Preparatory Committee, then presented awards to the participating students, supervisors and evaluation committees.
