Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Erbil Polytechnic University participated in the roundtable meeting of polytechnic universities in Iraq, which was hosted by the Middle Technical University and held in Erbil city.
In a meeting where the Minister Deputy of the Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq, Dr. Haider Abd Zahd, the Chairman of the Committee of the Education, Technical and Vocational Training Reform Project in Iraq, Dr. Hamid Khalaf Ahmed and the consultant of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq Mr. Ala Abed Hassan, the Rectors of Iraqi and Kurdistan Polytechnic Universities, and the Vice Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education were present, they discussed the steps taken to promote technical and vocational education in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
After presenting the speeches, the agenda of the meeting was presented through nine different topics discussing the independence of admission in polytechnic universities, especially in departments that follow the Bologna system, as well as the proposals and recommendations of the previous meeting technical education in Iraq and its transformation into the Office of Technical Education in the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, steps to implement the Bologna system and obstacles to its implementation, investment projects and discussing the infrastructure construction for newly established universities. Working on changing the ownership of the land of the Ministry of Finance and Economy to polytechnic universities was also discussed along with several other current issues.
