The 8th Annual International Engineering Conference Between Erbil Polytechnic University And International TISHK University Has Started

On Wednesday 23rd of February 2022, the Eighth International Engineering Conference began between Erbil Polytechnic University and International TISHK University supported by (EEE Triple-Iraq) in the International Erbil Hotel. The official people of governmental and non-governmental institutions were present in this conference like the representative of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry Representative Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed, the President of Supervision Quality Insurance in the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry, the Head of the Second Branch of the Democratic Kurdistan Party Mr. Ahmed Kani, the Administrative and Financial Director of the Council of Ministers Divan Sanaw Faraydun Jwanroyi, the President of the Erbil Governorate Council Dr. Ali Rashid, the Erbil Governor Deputy Mr. Hemn Qader, and several governmental and private university presidents.

After listening to the national anthem of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the EPU Rector presented a statement. He said: “It is my great pleasure today to welcome you to the 8th annual International Engineering Conference in collaboration with TISHK International University and the support of I triple E Iraq Section.”

Dear guests, since 2014, we have held this conference with our colleagues from the Faculty of Engineering at TISHK International University. Our partnership has been strengthening throughout the years.

Our aim from such conferences is to build a concrete platform for our local academic staff and researchers with international academics. The forum has provided great long-term sharing of knowledge and discussing the latest issues and the current hot topics worldwide.

This year, the conference will be presented face to face in addition to the availability of an online platform. IEC 2022 brings together more than 130 academics and researchers from different academic institutions and organizations in 11 countries (China, Oman, Macaw, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Mexico, Senegal,  Sudan, Malaysia). They will present and share knowledge in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, and General Engineering.

Erbil Polytechnic University aims to contribute to knowledge advancements, enhance its ranking, and improve the quality of research. Organizing international conferences is part of the EPU’s strategy towards internationalization and globalization. This step leads to enhancing the quality of life, providing better services for the community, and addressing social and regional issues and problems.

Again, I would like to welcome everyone warmly, and I hope you have a productive and fruitful two days of scientific discussions and networking.

I would also like to mention my gratitude to both universities’ great teamwork and collaboration for their hard work to make this event happen. Thanks to the higher scientific and organizing committee. I want to express my sincere appreciation to every one of you who has worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this conference.

I wish you all two fruitful days in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

It is worth mentioning that this conference continues for two days, 23-24/02/2022. More than 130 academics and researchers from different academic institutions and organizations over 11 countries attend it to share information in various engineering fields.

Erbil Polytechnic University Arranges A Seminar About Sports and Human Health For Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Sherwani

On Tuesday 22nd of February 2022, within the weekly meetings of the Erbil Polytechnic University, the Exterior Activity Department held a seminar “Sports and Human Health” in the University Presidency Ceremony Hall for Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Ali Ismail (Holding Ph.D. in the Sports Field). Our university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani, his Assistants, several University Council Members, lecturers, and students were present at this event.

At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Tahsin Sherwani talked about sports and the quality of doing it healthily, sports influence on immunity system, circulation, and breathing functions.

In another part of the seminar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Sherwani spoke about sports and their effect on obesity and he mentioned a formula with which one can realize the balance between body weight and height. He distributed a questionnaire form to the attendees that included many questions regarding lifestyle, food, sports, working, psychological state effects. Through these questionnaires, he clarified person capacity protection against health state to know the exercise quality and food system one needs to protect body health and weight.

In the end, the seminar arrangers opened a discussion gate for the participants to direct their questions and comments, which were responded accurately by Dr. Tahsin Ali Ismail.

Later, his Excellency Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani offered the EPU placket to Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Sherwani thanked him for his efforts and presenting the seminar.

Ranking of The Best Erbil Technical Engineering College Lecturers through Out Kurdistan Region According to Scopus Citation

According to the International Scopus Database, the most reliable database worldwide, five Erbil Polytechnic University lecturers were registered in the best top Kurdistan Region universities regarding citation due to publishing highly qualified research in the Civil Engineering field.

It is worth mentioning that self-citation has not been considered, which is why the classification is entirely reliable. To trustworthy the data, our university put the Scopus link of the EPU researcher below.

Erbil Polytechnic University Arranges A Symposium About Water Crises In The Kurdistan Region

On Wednesday 16th of February 2022, under the observation of our university Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani and availability of several EPU Council Members, Lecturers, Water Field Experts, the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry Dam General Directors, and the EPU Scientific Research Center arranged a symposium at the Celebration Hall of the Erbil Polytechnic University Presidency.

The symposium started with a moment standing to honor the martyrs’ Soul, then, our university Scientific Research Center General Director Asst. Pro. Dr. Hemn Kakakhan Awlla, as the Rector’s Representative, delivered a speech. He welcomed the attendees, and he briefly talked about water crises and the factors behind holding the symposium.

The symposium subjects consisted of four panels, Displacement in Iraq Risks for Water Shortage-Induced, Rainfall Forecasting as a Tool for Future Water Management Planning, Government Policy Framework, and Rainfall Water Harvesting.

At the first part of the first panel, the Head of the Cultural Relations Union of the EPU International Relations Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Omer Yassin delivered a presentation about ‘Water Shortage Risks upon Displacement in Iraq. He accurately talked about water’s lack of influence on immigration in Iraq and the world. He said people are obliged to immigrate because of rain shortage or floods. To shed light on humanity and the universe future, he presented several data and predictions of international establishments and organizations.

The Land and Water Department Lecturer of the Agricultural Sciences of the Saladin University Asst. Prof. Dr. Tariq Hama Karim presented in the second part of the first panel under the “Rainfall Forecasting as a tool for future water management planning” title. He focused on dealing with the predictions in the future and said, “We should have a plan for water wealth management to decrease environmental damage in our country.”

In the first part of the second panel, the Kurdistan Region Dams General Director of the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry Engineer Rahman Khani delivered a subject about “Government Policy Framework for Water Wealth.” He clarified government strategy and policy for water fortune and reliable information regarding the Agriculture and Water Resources ministry. He also talked about water lack issues and problems in the past few years, despite the Kurdistan Region rainfall. This crisis is in Turkey and Iran as they build dams on both Zei Gawra and Zei Bchuk rivers. In another part of his presentation, Engineer Rahman Khani spoke about the dams that the government is planning to build by taking which one is more important to be built firstly into consideration. The significance of these dams is to benefit from rainfall in winter and spring.

At the last part of the second panel, the Water Resources Department Head of the Engineering College at the Saladin University Asst. Prof. Dr. Jihan Mohammad Fatah talked about a subject named “Rainfall Water Harvesting.” In this presentation, he focused on the method of rainfall water harvesting; some of them are so expensive, but others are chip. He also mentioned the best ways of water harvesting that many countries use.

At the end of the symposium discussion and question, the gate opened for attendees responded by the panelists—finally, the EPU Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani presented a brief statement in which he expressed his gratitude towards our University Scientific Research Center for arranging this symposium. He also thanked the Kurdistan Region Dams General Director at the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry, Mr. Rahman Khani, experts, and water resources field lecturers for the data and suggestions they offered. He said water is an effective gun for now, and future countries can use it against each other.

Later, the EPU Rector offered the honorary certificate to the panelists.
