A delegation from the Erbil Polytechnic University visits Kurdistan Institute for Innovation

On Tuesday, the 26th of March, 2024, a delegation of the Erbil Polytechnic University consisting of Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmad, the Vice Rector for the Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, Prof. Dr.  Keyhan Zrar Ghafoor, the Dean of the Erbil Technology College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center of our university visited the Kurdistan Institute for Innovation (K.I.I) and were welcomed by Dr. Azad Najar the Supervisor of the institute.

In the meeting, the coordination of technology and innovation between our university and the institute was discussed, and both sides emphasized on formulating a strategy to implement large and joint projects together in the future.

The Kurdistan Institute for Innovation is affiliated to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and is dedicated to innovation and technology projects and the development of technological and industrial infrastructure in Kurdistan.

The General Secretary of the Union of Arab Universities sent a Gratitude Letter to the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University

Dr. Amro Izzat Salama, the General Secretary of the Union of the Arab Universities sent a gratitude letter to Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University for participating in the 56th Congress of the Union of Arab Universities held on the 4th and 5th of March, 2024 at the Baghdad University.

In an official message on behalf of the Union of the Arab Universities, Dr. Amro Izzat Salama congratulated the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University on the coming of the holy month of Ramadan and wished this month to be a month of blessings and happiness for everyone.

In his message, the General Secretary of the Union of the Arab Universities thanked Prof. Dr. Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University for his participation in the 56th Congress of the Union of the Arab Universities held on the 4th and 5th of March, 2024 at the Baghdad University and he hoped that the Erbil Polytechnic University must continue to achieve common goals and develop the level of higher education in Arab universities.

It is worth mentioning that the Erbil Polytechnic University is one of the universities members of the Union of Arab Universities that annually get an invitation to the congress of the Union, each session hosted by a member university.

Erbil Polytechnic University arranges a workshop on capacity development for the heads of departments and directors of the university presidency

On the 18th of March, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, the Vice Rectors and several members of the University Council held a workshop entitled (Building Capacity for University Key Figures) for all the heads of scientific departments of the Erbil Polytechnic University.

At the beginning of the workshop, a welcoming speech was delivered by the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education. Then, the Rector delivered a speech in which he mentioned the importance of such courses for the heads of departments and made it clear that the heads of scientific departments of colleges and institutes are the dynamo of the university’s progress and bridges between the university and students and continuing such courses are of special importance to develop its capabilities and some new dimensions of the university does.

On the first day of the workshop, two seminars were presented. The first seminar was conducted by Dr. Fazel Jaff under the title (Teachers and Students Behaviors interaction) in which he in detail talked about the topics of body language and reading body language.

In the second seminar, Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmad, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs, presented a subject entitled (Diploma Supplement and Transcript).

The workshop will continue on the second day and Mr. Yasin Rashid will deliver a seminar about (Student Registration for exams), and Mr. Zanyar Rizgar Ahmed and Mr. Aso Yasin Omar will present a seminar about (Google Chat) to the heads of scientific departments and directors of the university presidency.

The Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University receives a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross

On Sunday, the 10th of March, 2024, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University received a delegation of the International  Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) consisted of Mr. Oliver Ray, the Director of the Physical Rehabilitation Program / Geneva, Mr. Tigran Betani, the Director of the Physical Rehabilitation Program / Iraq, Mr. Chia Miqdad Ali, the Director of Physical Rehabilitation Program / Kurdistan, and Mr. Yan Lee Beck a Director in ICRC/Iraq.

In a meeting where Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education; Mr. Murad Amir the Dean of the Erbil Technical Health and Medicine, ⁠Dr. Zikra, the Head of the Department of Artificial Limbs and Supports; Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato were present, both sides discussed how to continue the department of prostheses and supports in Erbil Technical College of Health and Medicine in admitting students for the third round. And providing foreign teaching staff and equipment to continue the educational process, and develop a plan to train local academic staff.

It is worth mentioning that this department was established with the full support of the International Red Cross in terms of preparing programs, equipment and materials within the framework of an agreement between the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Erbil Polytechnic University, for graduates of two rounds. According to this agreement, Erbil Polytechnic University will bear all the expenses.

During this meeting, a detailed discussion was held, and a number of ideas and suggestions were formulated, which will then be submitted to the International Committee of the Red Cross in an official report.
