Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Offers Honorary Certificate To Nine Students Attended Huawei Company Annual Competition

On Tuesday,  the 29th of November 2022,  in the presence of the University Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamed Tahir Harki,  the Rector Assistant for Scientific Affairs Dr. Nageb Toma Bato,  and the Dean of Erbil Technology College Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmed, the Erbil Engineering Technical College Dean, Dr.  Iyad Zaki, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center of our university Asst. Prof. Dr. Hemen Kakakhan and Dr. Jamal, the Head of Communications of Huawei Company in Iraq, awarded 9 students in the departments of Information Technology and Communication Engineering and Information Systems Engineering.

In the ceremony, the Head of both Departments of Information Systems Engineering and Information and Communication Technology Engineering, the Head of Huawei Academy Center (ICT) in our university, Ms. Shirin, the Head of the Students Union of Kurdistan in the Erbil Polytechnic University were present. Nine successful students were awarded in the annual Huawei 2022 competition.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Salar Ahmed Rasul, the Head of the Information and Communication Technology Engineering Department, presented a brief presentation on the history and activities of the department. Then in a speech, his Excellency our University Rector congratulated the successful students and the students of our university in general and thanked the Heads and staff of the departments. Later In a congratulatory message, Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmed spoke about the achievements and progress of the Erbil Technology College and congratulated the successful students.

Afterward, Mr. Hussein Tovi presented the message of the Students Union of Kurdistan and congratulated the winners. Finally, the successful students expressed their gratitude and appreciation toward the Rector, Dean, Heads of departments, and lecturers of their colleges for their continuous support and encouragement to further improve their scientific level.

It is worth mentioning that 60 students were selected on the Iraq level, fortunately, 8 students were from the Department of Technology and Communication Engineering and one student was from the Department of Information Systems Engineering at Erbil Technical College of Engineering.

Two students from the Department of Information and Communication Technology Engineering won the second round of the competition and together with four other students from Iraqi universities were appointed to travel to the Sultanate of Oman to participate in the third round of the competition 2022, where several other students will be chosen to participate in the global finals.

Erbil Polytechnic University Started Selecting Refugees To Attend A Training Course

Within the framework of the Camp Plus project, the Directorate of International Relations Office of the Erbil Polytechnic University is conducting a training course for refugees in camps in Erbil and its surroundings (Qushtapa, Kurgosk, Darashakran, Basrma). After an evaluation process, several refugees and students were selected to participate in the course.

The purpose of the training course is to help and train refugees to integrate into society to become an economic resource for themselves and their community.

The project is funded by Erasmus Plus of the European Union and will continue until the end of 2024.

Erbil Polytechnic University And World Food Programme Announce A Project For People In Need And Refugees

Within the attempts and stepping forward of the Erbil Polytechnic university towards internationalization and connecting the university with society and building ground for youth, the Career Development Center Directorate, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nation announced a programme for people in need and refugees within Erbil City border. S

This program aims to help people in need and refugees by offering training courses and creating job opportunities in the fields of English Language, Information Technology (IT), and Business.

The specified period for this project is ten months, in which training and learning courses in the English language, IT, and Business are given online in the first four months. After evaluating the participant’s qualification levels through tests, they will be classified into two classes (Beginners and Advanced). In the fifth month, the business class will be delivered face-to-face in style. Then, the Career Development Center Directorate and WFP will try to find job opportunities for the participants in the private sector in the final fifth months.

In this programme, 150 people who are better to have certificates will be nominated, the students are not accepted, and they should be 18-35 years old. In the first four months, the attendees will receive 150 000 Iraqi Dinars.

Recycling Festival Was Conducted At the Erbil Technical Administrative College

The Recycling Festival of Erbil Technical College of Management was held in the presence of the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamed Tahir Harki.

At the festival, Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Rector Assistant for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, Dr. Azad Ahmad, Dean of the Erbil Technical Administrative College, several lecturers, and students were present.

The festival was held under the title of “Reuse of Materials for Earth Regeneration for 2050”. During the festival, his Excellency our University Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamed Tahir Harki delivered a statement in which he congratulated the organizers of the festival for the students and said, “I know that only those who feel responsible towards the environment have national intimacy and love their land and country. So, I am happy to see Students are busy protecting the environment.”

The Rector spoke about the history of attention to the environment and the beginning of environmental organizations and highlighted the scientific aspects of recycling and said: “Today, environmental protection includes a broad philosophical, economic, political, social and cultural perspective”.

It is worth mentioning that this festival was organized by the team (Glow) in collaboration with both the student committees of the Erbil Technical Engineering College and the Erbil Technical Administrative College.

The festival focused on finding environmental problems and finding appropriate solutions, while several activities and special programs were presented that pleased the audience.
