In the presence of Prof. Abdulfattah Abdulrazzaq Mahmoud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Higher Education Consultant, the Prime Minister Buerue Representative, the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative, several guests, lecturers, and researchers the Erbil Polytechnic University presented a symposium about “Energy Consumption Challenges in the Kurdistan Region”.
At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamed Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University welcomed the participants on behalf of himself and the university council. He expressed his pleasure that Erbil Polytechnic University is a scientific and educational center.
His Excellency our university Rector said: “While the world is moving towards the usage of clean energy to protect the environment and adapt to global climate change, the Kurdistan Region has taken good steps in this regard. The Kurdistan Regional Government’s attention to solar electricity generation is one of the steps taken by the government regarding.”
The Erbil Polytechnic University Rector also mentioned the two incidents in Sulaimaniya and Duhok and pointed to the steps and measures taken by the government concerning these disasters.
Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamed Tahir Harki said, “Today we have gathered here to discuss the challenges of using energy in general and liquefied gas in particular and put dots on the letters, scientifically evaluate the issues and present the recommendations of this symposium to the relevant parties in the government To be part of the work program on how to deal with this system in the Kurdistan Region. Erbil Polytechnic University is pleased to take this step scientifically and we hope to benefit society through this scientific step.”
Later, In his speech, Prof. Abdulfattah Abdulrazzaq Mahmoud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research thanked Erbil Polytechnic University for organizing this symposium. He considered it an important step and one of the main tasks of the university.
The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said: “Due to these incidents that occurred in the past, especially the fire caused by liquefied gas that caused a major disaster, on the proposal of the Kurdistan Regional Government ”.
“The duty of our universities is not only to award degrees, but another important duty of Kurdistan universities as an important academic center is to conduct scientific research on society’s problems. Therefore, the outcomes of this symposium will be a cause for solutions and causes.”
Then Prof. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, Prof. Bakr Farangi, Prof. Abdulkhaliq Mohammed Qadir, and Dr. Hawre Ghazi Hussein discussed the challenges of facing energy in the Kurdistan Region, energy use Renewed and implemented energy decentralization, quality in the gas system with the strategy to reduce gas system accidents in the Kurdistan Region.
After presentations and discussions by the audience, certificates were distributed to the speakers.
