Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Receives The Partners Of The Camplus Project

On Tuesday, the 31 January , 2023, the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki received the partners of Erbil Polytechnic University in the Camplus project which consisted of seven international institutions from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Greece.

In a meeting where the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs, the Director of the International Relations and officials and trainers of the project in our university were present, the Rector welcomed the delegation of the European partners in the Camplus project and expressed his pleasure for the cooperation and collaboration between our university and the European institutions He expressed the university’s readiness to work together to further serve Kurdistan’s youth, students and refugees in the camps.

It is worth mentioning that six academic staff of the Erbil Polytechnic University participated in a special course in Italy last year to become trainers.

This project is funded by the European Union and aims to help refugees and graduates of our university to develop their projects and create job opportunities for them.

University Rector Participates In The Announcement Ceremony Of The US Technology Development Project In The Polytechnic Universities Of The Kurdistan Region

The Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the US Consulate in the Kurdistan Region announced the project (American Technology Development in the Kurdistan Region) that will be implemented in the amount of (650,000) six hundred and fifty thousand dollars in all three (Erbil Polytechnic University, Sulaimaniya Polytechnic University and Duhok Polytechnic University).

The announcement of the project came today, Monday, the 30th January 2023 during a press conference at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The participants of this event were Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Erven Hicks the Consul General of the United States in the Kurdistan Region, the presidents of a number of universities, advisors and general directors of the ministry.

This project is being implemented by the US Consulate General under the supervision of USAID at a cost of (650,000) six hundred and fifty thousand dollars in all three (Erbil Polytechnic University, Sulaimaniya Polytechnic University, and Duhok Polytechnic University). It includes building nine scientific laboratories with the latest modern scientific equipment, while for each of these laboratories, special training will be given to local staff and university lecturers to be able to use the laboratories scientifically for educational purposes.

The project is an important step towards paying more attention to the youth of Kurdistan to improve their skills in the field of information technology, especially in the field of (telecommunications), (IT) and (networking) and learn skills that are important for the domestic and international labor market.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Soran Abdulrahman Hamad, the Head of the project at the Erbil Polytechnic University was present at the ceremony.

Erbil Polytechnic University Rector receives a Delegation from Toyota Company

Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki received a delegation of Toyota Japanese Company-Iraqi Branch consisting of the General Director of Human Resources Development Mr. Hussein Hanarayi and Director General of After Sales Service Mr. Ernesto Silister.
In the meeting, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Erbil Technology College Dean Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmed, the Director of International Relations Office Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, Ms. Ronak Ahmed Saeed, the Head Department of Automotive Technology, Mr. Farhad Osman Omar and Yasin Hamid Rashid were present, they discussed about the collaboration and assistance of the Department of Automotive Technology in terms of training students and staff and providing job opportunities for graduates of our university.
Then the delegation visited the Erbil Technology College- the Department of Automotive Technology and the laboratories of the Department of Automotive.

Erbil Polytechnic University and WFP have launched a project to support and develop youth skills

To support and develop the skills of young people, in a special ceremony, Erbil Polytechnic University in collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP) opened a project for university graduates and refugee youth in the Kurdistan Region.

In the ceremony, which was held today Thursday, the 26th of January 2023 at the Cultural Center of the Erbil Polytechnic University, his Excellency Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector, Dr. Amir Chali, the consultant of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Deputy President of the World  Food Program (WFP), a significant number of university lecturers and students were present. The ceremony began with a moment of respect standing for the souls of the martyrs.

In a statement, the university Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, after welcoming the guests, spoke about the role of the university and said: The duty of the university is not only to award degrees, but it is the leader and engine of society in all fields. Therefore, along with the educational process, the university is constantly trying to develop and support young people and create skills in different fields that young people are interested in. Our university Rector expressed his pleasure that the World Food Program has appointed our university to implement this important project. He assured that the Erbil Polytechnic University always opens its gate to implement similar projects to serve the community.

In another part of the ceremony, the Vice President of the World Food Organization (WFP) and the project implementation supervisor delivered speeches separately, in which they discussed in detail the objectives and different aspects of the project, how to select and appoint participants. Then, a panel was presented on the collaboration between the course and companies and how to implement the project.

150 people have participated in the Jassur project to support and develop the capacity of University alumni and refugee youth in the Kurdistan Region after several months of theoretical and practical participation in the project courses, the participants will be provided with job opportunities with the help of local companies.
