On Tuesday, the 6^th of February, 2024, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, visited the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry to congratulate the new staff.

The delegation consisted of Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmed, the Vice Rector for the Scientific Affairs and Higher Education; Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousef Mustafa Rasul, the Vice Rector for the Student Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of the Research Center, Mr. Kovan Omar, the Director of the Career Development Center, and Mr. Zanyar Jabar, a Lecturer in the Erbil Technical Administrative College.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Gaylan Haji Saeed, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Kamran Salah Bajger and Mr. Marouf Azizkhan Harki, the Vice Presidents of the Chamber, Mr. Ibrahim Gardi and Ms. Shirin Yahya, the members of the Executive Council of the Chamber.

In the meeting, the Rector of the the Erbil Polytechnic University mentioned the importance of the chamber in cooperating with universities and working together through companies, which will ultimately benefit both the government and graduates, thus reducing the burden on the government and graduates in terms of job opportunities for graduates. Therefore, we hope that the staff of both sides will work together to provide significant services.

The Rector said “Before, the university’s job was to graduate students for the government and employ them, but now the university’s job is to find jobs for them at the same time. We want to work together in this field through such workshops and exhibitions and introduce students to companies that can find jobs. The Department of Automotive and Marketing at our university provides direct employment for students, but we still need more assistance”.

From his side, the President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the delegation and supported the words of the Rector of the University and said, we will certainly cooperate on our part and we will work together with full planning and collaboration.

He also said: I think the universities should do research on how to find job opportunities for students and graduates, we will help according to our ability and support, rest assured that we will not neglect and we will help.

On Tuesday, the 30^th of December, 2024, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, received Mr. Mark Straw, US Consul General in Erbil and his accompanying delegation.

In the meeting Prof. Dr. Azad Hassan Qadir, the Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Asst. Prof. Botan Majid Ahmed, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of Scientific Research Center; Dr. Talib Mohammed Sharif, the Dean of the Mergasor Technical Institute were present.

The Rector welcomed the US Consul General and his accompanying delegation and briefed the guest delegation about the university, its structure, colleges and different departments. He also pointed out that our university includes a number of scientific departments that are different from other departments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region only exist in the Erbil Polytechnic University.

In another part of his speech, the rector said that we as a university are working to match our specialties with the labor market and then our graduates get jobs.

The US Consul General in the Erbil congratulated the Erbil Polytechnic University for paying attention to the opening of the departments that are important and currently suitable for the labor market, and also mentioned the opening of job fair which has created a significant number of job opportunities for graduates of the Erbil Polytechnic University.

He reaffirmed his full support for the university and said that they will have more collaboration in the future and reassured the support of the consulate to the university and expressed his pleasure for visiting the university.

Later, the Rector presented the U.S. Consul General the university plaque, and the U.S. Consul presented special consular gifts to the audience.

On Monday, the 29^th of December, 2024, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Dr. Azad Hassan Qadir, the Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousef Mustafa Rasul, the Vice Rector for Students Affairs participated in an activity of the Technical Department of International Marketing and Language in the Erbil Technical Administrative College.

The activity included the organization and management of a special program by the Technical Department of International Marketing and Language under the name of practical training, which the rector and his colleagues participated in and several students presented their practical training in the form of seminars.

The seminars were supervised by a special committee of the academic staff of the same department. After the scientific discussions between the students and their supervisors, the university Rector suggested more meetings to pay more attention to the department so that the students can benefit more and find job opportunities. The students were happy with the support and assistance of the rector.

It is worth mentioning that the teachers of the department conduct similar seminars monthly to students to identify their shortcomings, then ask them to conduct seminars.

It is worth mentioning that 80% of the students of this department have found jobs so far. The department supports the government’s decision that requires young people and students to find jobs for themselves.

On Saturday, the 27^th of December, 2024, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmed, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sarsam Khalil Shuani, the Dean of the Erbil Technical Administrative Institute, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center and several academic and administrative staff the Erbil Technical Administrative Institute completed a three-day training course in the field of tourism.

In his speech, the Rector congratulated the Erbil Technical Administrative Institute and the organizers and supervisors of the course and wished success and improvement of scientific level and an academic year full of achievements for the participating teachers and employees.

This course was held by the Erbil Polytechnic University in coordination with ILO at the Royal Hotel in Ainkawa district.
