The Rector of the University participated in the meeting of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Iraqi-British Labor Council

Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University and Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center participated in a meeting at the official invitation of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman, in a meeting to welcome Ms. Baroness Emma Nicholson, Founder and President of the Iraqi-British Business Council IBBC.

In the meeting, the Erbil Governor Umed Khoshnaw, the British Consul General James Goldenman, Sarwar Kamal Hawari, the Deputy Minister of the Commerce and Industry for Trade Affairs, diplomats, members of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and several businessmen Several speeches were presented.

Baroness Emma Nicholson, the Founder and President of IBBC, who is also a member of the House of Lords, spoke about the struggle and sacrifices of the Kurdish people and the history of economic and trade relations with Kurdistan and the Erbil City. He also spoke about the role of the university in developing the country’s economy.

During the meetings, the university delegation met with the members of the IBBC organization in which they discussed the importance of university in society, especially in preparing young people for the labor market and participation of the university in activities related to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kurdistan.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki met with the British Consul General in Erbil and after discussing several important issues, he also invited the British Consul General in Erbil to visit the Erbil Polytechnic University and the Consul General welcomed the invitation and said that he will visit Erbil Polytechnic University in a near future.

Finally, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University held a meeting with Ms. Baroness Emma Nicholson, the Founder and President of the Iraqi-British Business Council (IBBC).

In the meeting emphasized the importance of the university for the society and providing jobs for the youth of the country, in addition to the importance of the university to solve the problems of the market and the industrial sector in the Kurdistan Region.

The University Rector welcomed two students who are studying at a Polish university for one semester

On Thursday, the 15th February, 2024, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, received two students of the Erbil Technical Administrative and Engineering Colleges who will continue their studies at Warsaw University of Life Sciences Warsaw in Poland.

Sending these students and studying at the university is within the framework of our university’s strategy with international universities.

In a meeting where Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center was available, the University Rector welcomed the students and their families and wished them a successful scientific journey. He said, “Our main goal is to internationalize our university which serves the interest of students, academic, and administrative staff in general. Currently, we are in collaboration with 70 universities around the world on how to exchange students.

We would like our students to bring back culture and beautiful appearance, science and useful information to our country, and we pay great attention to the subjects that your journey is scientific and educational. It is important to us how much they can benefit from these courses and be exemplary in terms of work and behavior.”

Then, the Director of International Relations said, “We at Erbil Polytechnic University after a lot of effort and competition with many Middle Eastern universities were able to obtain this offer at the level of all Iraqi universities. We received the financial support for the students to study the course at the expense of the university.

Later, the students thanked the presidency of the university and colleges and expressed their happiness for supporting and encouraging the students to make similar trips to different countries, and said they will meet the expectations of the teachers and the university.

The two students from the Department of International Marketing at Erbil Technical  Administrative College and the Department of Civil Engineering at Erbil Technical Engineering College have been selected by the Directorate of International Relations Office to participate in this offer and they are scheduled to start studying in Poland soon.

Toyota Company Iraq provides a number of laboratory equipment to Erbil Polytechnic University

On Monday, the 12th of February, 2024, in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Ahmed, the Vice Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education; Dr. Kihan Zrar Ghafoor, the Dean of Erbil Technology College and a delegation of Toyota Iraq held a ceremony to hand over a number of laboratory equipment to the Department of Automotive Technical Engineering (A.T.E) in Erbil College.

In the ceremony attended by the Vice Dean of the College, the Head of the Department of Automotive Technical Engineering and several teachers, the Toyota delegation handed over a number of equipment such as (gears and engines, lift jacks).

It is worth mentioning that the provision of these requirements is one of the points of the memorandum of understanding between the Erbil Polytechnic University and Toyota Iraq signed recently.

The University Rector receives a delegation from the University Institute

On Sunday, the 11th of February, 2024, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, received Dr. Sally Bryan, the Vice Rector of University Institute and his accompanying delegation.

In a meeting where the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the General Director of the Scientific Research Center, and Director of the Language Center of our university were present, both universities discussed the building relationship as a starting point to open a training course for academic and administrative staff of our university conducted by the named institute.

This course aims to strengthen the English language, especially in the field of conversation and some pedagogical issues that are conducted for our university teachers, which in the future will be within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between our university and the University Institute.

The course is scheduled to consist of six to eight groups and will last for four weeks starting at the end of April.
