Erbil Technical Administrative College and Erbil Technical Administrative Institute of the Erbil Polytechnic University arranged a carnival to mark the 126th anniversary of Kurdish journalism, which consisted of several activities.

In the carnival Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University, his assistants for the scientific and higher education affairs and the student affairs, deans of colleges and institutes, Mr. Hazhar Osman, the head of Aso area committee and a large number of lecturers, employees, students and guests were present.

First of all, Mr. Shaker Reza, the Head of Technical Department of Media in the Erbil Technical Administrative Institute welcomed all the guests on behalf of the Rector. He highlighted the continuous support of the Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki and thanked him for always helping the advancement of science and helping students and his presence in these national anniversaries show this fact. Then, He talked about the history and importance of the day and the publication of the first Kurdish newspaper and highlighted the activities of the anniversary, and said that all activities are the product of the students of both technical departments.

In the same ceremony, the cake was broken to commemorate the 126th anniversary of Kurdish journalism, and several activities were held such as: photo exhibition of students, exhibition of newspapers printed by students of the Technical Department of Media The second part began with a welcome speech, then a short video of the students of the Technical College of Management, a music and poetry conference for young and well-known poet Kawa Hussein jointly conducted by Prof. Dr. Sirwan Anwar Majid.

It is worth mentioning that every year the Department of Media Technique in both Erbil Institute and Technical College of Administration celebrate this anniversary and conduct several activities on this occasion, all of which are prepared and presented by students of both departments.

On Sunday, the 21^st of April, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University; Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Arabi, the President of the  International TISHK University; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Botan Majid Asngar, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, held an international workshop on creativity and innovation in collaboration with the Department of Business Administration of both universities and World Creativity and Innovation Week.

The workshop consisted of two main parts: the first part was a panel on innovation and (problem solving), and the second part was a special part on team problem solving between teachers and students of both universities.

In a statement, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University expressed his gratitude towards the Rector of Tişk University, the organizers of the event, and world Creativity and Innovation Week. He said, “We are pleased to participate in another joint activity between the Erbil Polytechnic University and Tişk International University, in collaboration with World Creativity and Innovation Week. Ladies and gentlemen, innovation is a subject that concerns every individual. Innovation is not related to heredity, or a person is not born an inventor because his father was an inventor. No, in our opinion, innovation is an educational subject that students and young people should be educated and supported to become innovative individuals.

Therefore, we view this workshop from this perspective and such activities are very necessary for young people to be creative and innovate. Just as students can be creative and innovative in project learning, it is also essential for teachers to be creative and innovative in the classroom in order to encourage, support, and educate students that have the ability to be creative and to help them and give them opportunities and teach them to educate them to become creative people.

We would like to thank those who have worked with us, the World Creativity and Innovation Week. Mr. Zanyar Jabbar and Mr. Abdulsalam Madani who have worked a lot in this field. We have previously held a panel on this field for our teachers at Erbil Polytechnic University because we take this issue very seriously It is an important topic and we hope that you can benefit from this workshop today and become an introduction for students and teachers to work on this topic in the future. The workshop was jointly arranged by the Department of Business Administration of both Erbil Polytechnic University and Tishk International University in collaboration with the World Creativity and Innovation Week, which was hosted by the Department of Business Administration of Tishk International University.

The first part of the panel was presented by Mr. Abdulsalam Madani, Mr. Zanear Jabbar Ssali, and Ms. Hedi Kamala as panelists and Dr. Abdullah as the moderator on Creativity and innovation and business leadership, creativity and innovation in universities, in business, and work environment were discussed. The panel was enriched with questions from the audience.

The second part of the workshop consisted of a section on teamwork to solve problems. They used some scenarios such as Sustainable Development Goals (SGDeS) as a team and there were several scenarios in groups. There were a number of scenarios where the university teacher worked with the students in groups to find appropriate solutions and provide innovative solutions to the problems.

At the end, certificates were awarded to all participants of the international workshop.

An academic staff of the Erbil Medical Technical Institute leads a delegation to participate in a course entitled “Capacity Building to Improve Livelihoods and Reduce Poverty” organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of China in Erbil and the Ministry of Commerce of China.

The course is implemented by the International Economic Cooperation Center of China in Fujian (IECC). Dr. Tariq Waisi Sadiq, a lecturer at the Erbil Medical Technical Institute, presented a painting of Erbil to Huang An, head of the center.

The delegation visited several academic and commercial centers, agricultural villages, historical centers and advanced factories of the city.

Today, they met with the Vice Governor of Ilong City (Zhang Long) and the President of Sichuan Zhangside Exclusive Leader Academy and presented a plaque to the President of the University, who also presented gifts to the delegation.

On Sunday, the 21^st of Apri, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Azad Hassan Qadir, the Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Abdulrahman Sadiq, the Chairman of the Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation Board; Prof. Dr. Kihan Zrar Ghafoor, the Erbil Technology College organized an environmental workshop and an environmental science exhibition entitled (the Role of Technology in Environmental Protection).

In an event where the directors of the presidency, academic and administrative, and students were present the Vice Rector for Administrative and Financial Affairs, read the speech of the Rector which was:

Welcome to a scientific activity of the Erbil Technology College of our university which is an environmental workshop and an environmental science exhibition entitled (The role of technology in the Environmental Protection). The environment refers to everything around us that we feel, which can be animal or inanimate, as well as biological, chemical, physical and other forces.

Dear audience.

Unfortunately, in the past few years, some of the changes and developments have had a negative impact on climate change and the environment, resulting in water shortages and drought in several areas.

As an academic center, the university must work to protect the environment with the scientific capabilities of its academic staff.

Increasing the amount of greenery and adapting to new energy are factors that have an impact on reducing negative effects on the environment.

Since taking office as the Presidency of Erbil Polytechnic University, we have taken practical steps in this regard and for this purpose, as the first university in the Kurdistan Region, we opened a department of renewable energy that trains technical staff for the labor market center.

We have worked to increase the amount of greenery and for this purpose we have turned a large area of the campus into a large garden. We also conducted a tree planting campaign on the occasion of March and Newroz.

We also held a conference entitled “Barzan in Resistance for Nationalization (Education, Environmental Protection and Coexistence).

Out of love for the country, people work to raise awareness about environmental protection and reduce the causes of environmental pollution.

I would like to thank all those who work to protect the environment, especially the gardeners and environmentalists of our university who work with the utmost loyalty and patience to keep green and increase the amount of greenery in our university.

I would like to congratulate the Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation Board, our university teachers, environmental organizations that are working as part of the plans of the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government to establish environmental protection programs and implement the plans in this regard.

I hope that the recommendations of this workshop and the topics presented in it will become part of this program and serve this important area of life with scientific recommendations.

This activity with the opening of an environmental exhibition prepared by the teachers and students of the college. The workshop was held in the conference hall of Erbil Technology College with the participation of Prof. Dr. Ali Mahmoud Surdashi, Dr. Rebin Samad, Dr. Shara Kamal, Aso Shakak, Engineer Zhyar Jalal and Ms. Jwan Mahdi as event managers in which the participants discussed in detail the role of technology in environmental protection, the dangers of environmental pollution and how to treat the polluted environment through the use of technology.
