Dean of Mergasur Technical Institute visits the United Kingdom
Dean of Mergasur Technical Institute Dr.Talib Mohammed Sharif visited the UK on behalf of the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University, Prof. Idris Mohammed Tahir Harki.
The official visit was within the framework of academic coordination and memorandum of understanding between Erbil Polytechnic University and the UK universities and academic institutions.
On Sunday, June 9, 2023, he attended a six-day scientific conference entitled “Teaching English in a Digital Word” organized by Imperial English/Uk at Aston University in Birmingham.
The conference is part of the coordination between our university and Imperial English/Uk in the field of English Language and academics. During the conference, they had a fruitful meeting with the head of Imperial English/Uk, and discussed joint projects between the two sides, especially the reform of English programs in colleges and institutes affiliated to our university.
Then the university president Rep had an official meeting with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and presented a gift. In a speech, the Dean of the Institute spoke about the progress and peaceful coexistence in our region as an unparalleled model in the Middle East. Requesting him for more support for the region and helping any Kurd anywhere.
The Dean then visited the University of Coventry and discussed coordination and collaboration in joint projects between students from both sides in the fields of automotive and engineering.
During his stay in the UK, they also visited the University of Cambridge to establish contacts, building collaboration and sign future memoranda of understanding.
Then, within the framework of the academic coordination between our university and the University of Nottingham, Dr. Talib and Dr. Salar Osman were officially hosted by the university for two days and had a two days’ official meetings.
Several issues and joint work were discussed within the framework of these meetings and are scheduled to be implemented in the future.
Such as allocation and supervision of doctoral students, joint teaching and joint research, postdoctoral research opportunities and supervision of doctoral students, and development of English language and pedagogy for teachers in the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and School of Education.
He then visited the University of Manchester to establish coordination, then visited Scotland, in Edinburgh to establish coordination with the Royal Botanic Garden Center to benefit from their experience in the field of flora and for Mergasur Technical Institute and Kurdistan in general.
On the sidelines of the visit, they visited several attractions and tourist attractions.
