The Department of Media Techniques was established in the 2015 academic year at Erbil Technical College of Management.
This department aims to train technical staff in the field of written and visual media.
In these sections the courses are arranged so that the amount of practice exceeds the theory.
So far, two groups of students have graduated from our department
In the academic year (2019-2020) for the first time both (one-year academic higher diploma) and (Mass) have been opened and 15 students have been admitted.
Vision
The Department of Media achieves program development through the development of undergraduate studies, research, continuing education, and other services to the profession. The Department is recognized as a leading center for journalism education in the 21st century. The media department and staff members strive to become recognized authorities in their teaching specialties and technical areas of expertise. The Department of Media will continue to improve, explore, innovate, and implement pedagogical techniques that are central to our studentsOur theory program will continue to prepare students for professional and personal success. The Department of Media at EPU strives to be the preferred source of journalism education. Meanwhile, for journalism professionals, we want to improve their education and training.
Mission
The mission of our Media Department at EPU is to provide the best in education on foundational concepts, values and journalism skills that focus on problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and communication. We also promote an understanding of the ethical and legal implications of the media and the importance of cultural and intellectual diversity, civic engagement, and social responsibility in preparing students for leadership roles in journalism.
