In continuation of the Erbil Polytechnic University, international Relations Office activities in creating job opportunities, exchanging and learning for the students, and building a network with the world students,   on Tuesday 19th of October 2021, the International Relations Department of the EPU arranged an event through an international program in the Seminar Hall of the EPU Presidency.

In this event, the EPU Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani, the Rector Assistant for Scientific Affairs Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Rector Assistant for Students Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousif Mustafa Rasul, the International Relations Office Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Ranj Sirwan Abdullah and the Students Interior Departments Mr. Farhad Othman, were present. The students who participated in this program talked about the project they presented in the online academic program from the 12th to the 27th of August 2021, prepared by the Global Youth leadership Academy (GYLA) and M3TRIX Academic Organization.

Erbil Polytechnic University is the only university in Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region attended this program with five students (Shaho Hassan, Sima Abdulkarim, Braw Talib, Abdullah Dhaher, and Awat Qadir) from the Erbil Technical Administration College, Erbil Technical Engineering College, and Erbil Technical Health College. Dr. Selar Othman supervised and cooperated with the students. These students gained good degrees, but Sima Abdulkarim’s Seminar presentation was the top one amongst them in the program.

On this program, twenty UN Official and Company Representatives, 1,200 alumni, 500 young leaders from 30 countries encouraged youth to become systems thinkers, change-makers, innovators, and global leaders in the future. The program of GYLA includes UN System and Youth Empowerment, Thought Leadership, Global Mindset, and Action Competence.

Global Youth Leadership Academy (GYLA) is a world-class educational and experiential learning program that provides students with leadership training, international and cultural awareness and builds their commitment to servant leadership. The Global Youth and Leadership Academy (GYLA) was established in 2016 with top Chinese universities & UN Agencies. The youth-led platform provides young people with the opportunity to learn and exchange knowledge and experiences with global leaders. GYLA brings young people together to discuss the role of youth in addressing the challenges of the pandemic and commitment to the SDGs with global leaders.

To shed more light on this event, it is worth mentioning that in collaboration with M3TRIX Academy, UN agencies, and leading universities, GYLA has developed the online program eGYLA for young people who aspire to be future leaders and social innovators. They will learn how to address the post-pandemic futures and realize the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

At the end of the seminar, our Rector delivered a short speech. He expressed his gratitude towards the great efforts presented by the International Relations Office in this program and achieving funds for our students’ projects. He also appreciated the hardworking of our students who attend such national and international programs with high scientific levels, charismatic characteristics, and great confidence in themselves, then gain high results. Finally, the EPU Rector offered the participation certification and a book written by him about leadership to the students who attended the program.
