Topic Name: Most obvious reasons why Elsevier rejects your articles?

Objectives: Learn About the most common mistakes why Elsevier journals reject submitted manuscripts. Why most submitted papers cannot find their way for publication in Elsevier journals despite having good results, and outstanding researchers spent too much time preparing them? This training helps researchers overcome these challenges and avoid such obvious mistakes which lead to rejection (sometimes desk rejection)?

This course is held under the scientific supervision of the Erbil Technology College Dean Assistant Mr. Haval Ahmed and the Head of the Information Technology and Communication Department, Mr. Salar Ahmed. The training course participants are the staff of the mentioned department who will benefit from using advanced global technology and the last versions of progressed technology.

This training course will continue for eight days that takes three hours. At the end of the training, the attendees will receive the Certification of Participation.

Today’s event was a part of the university’s international strategy to enhance student’s cultural exchange in Iraq and worldwide. Four teams of the EPU participated; two of them were participants of the Erbil Technical Administration College supervised and facilitated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Omar Yassen and the Community College from the U.S.A., which is also collaborated by another community college in the U.S.A.  Dr. Talib Sherwani from Soran Technical Institute, facilitated another team. In addition, IREX supervised another Global Solutions Conversation program to encourage students to communicate global issues and exchange ideas virtually between our students and the U.S.A. Community Colleges students, two teams participated in this group conversation who were Koya Technical Institute students supervised by Dr. Rawshan Othman Ali and Mr. Omer Hassan Bashir.

Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge has provided EPU students with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to adapt to today’s workforce while allowing them to engage in cultural exchange with partners from around the world and their communities. Erbil Polytechnic University is one of the three universities in Iraq that are part of this international program.

It is worth to be mentioned that Global Solutions is funded by the Stevens Initiative, which the U.S. Department of State sponsors, with funding provided by the U.S. Government, which is administered by the Aspen Institute and implemented by IREX and in collaboration with several universities in Iraq, Jordan and community colleges in the U.S.A.

In this course, the trainers explained to the participants how to treat certificates they receive and send electronically to inside or outside of their offices,  observe the formal letters and certificates, archiving them on the system. The trainers taught the users of this system to get authorized and controlled when they use this system.

This system includes managing six main fields, Human Resources Arrangement, Finance System Arrangement and management, Monitoring certificates and documents, Students’ Information System, Nominators Management System, and Certification’s Equivalent.

Then, the Rector of the EPU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani presented a speech in which he expressed his appreciation and gratitude towards the Head Of Electronic System of the university Engineer Muhsin Ali, the Head of Electronic System in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mr. Aso Khalil, and the Representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Dana.  His Excellency also congratulated the training course attendees and talked about the electronic system’s Importance and its implementation. He said that he will fully support promoting this process.

At the beginning of the league, the Director of the Pedagogy Center, Dr.Khalil Hussein, welcomed the attendees. Then, the Rector of the EPU, who was available online, delivered a statement in which he welcomed Mr. Fuad Ismail, the Deputy of Director General of Research and Development and the Pedagogy Department Supervisor at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.  He also congratulated the learners and expressed his appreciation towards the efforts of the Pedagogy Center Director, who succeeded in developing the courses.

In another part of his speech, His Excellency Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Sherwani said: “To develop academic staff level, opening and delivering these courses in a new style is an important beginning towards internationalizing the universities. We feel depressed because of seeing Iraqi and Kurdistan Region universities in low grades of the international ranking of the universities.

The Rector of the EPU continued his speech: “It is about two years; we implement Bologna Process and ECTS system in the Erbil polytechnic University in the education process to cope with the progress of the world universities and to develop the students and academic staff level. Dears, everyone who carries a Master’s and Ph.D. degree cannot be an instructor in the university until he/she participates in these training courses to be able to deliver lessons according to the global style of the education system. Ladies and Gentlemen, these courses might be difficult for most of you due to your life difficulties; please be patient because I am sure they will finally have enormous benefits for you and our country.  Finally, I congratulate you and the Pedagogy Center.”

Then, Mr. Fuad Ali Ismail presented his speech in which he acknowledged and congratulated the attendees of these courses. He talked about the role of the EPU Rector in enhancing and developing the Pedagogy Center of the EPU. He also said: “I message the history that Asst. Prof. Dr. Kawa Abdulkareem Sherwani was the committee president; he was so successful in this process. When they came back from Finland, he told the Minister of the Higher Education and Scientific Research we should begin from the lecturers to make this experience successful and fruitful in the Kurdistan Region.”

In the detail of his statement, Mr. Fuad Ali Ismail Said: “Dears, the Ministry of the Higher Education and Scientific Research supports these courses, that is why we tend to send 28 other lecturers to Finland as soon as possible to be trainees when they return to be able to train other academic staff. I again congratulate the Erbil Polytechnic University and the learners.”

It is worth to be mentioned that this course is the third time be opened in the EPU and continues for about six months. 63 students are participating. The training courses will be delivered in blended learning. Still, now they are delivered online because of the pandemic situation of Corona-Covid19, according to instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
