 Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Attends the Congress of thex Arab Universities Union

The Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, participated in the Congress of the Arab Universities Union, which is held in 18 to 20 of March 2023 at both Sousse and Muntasir Universities in Tunisia.

The Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University with a number of presidents of universities in the Kurdistan Region participated in the opening ceremony of the 55th General Congress of the Union of Arab Universities, which began under the supervision of the Prime Minister of Tunisia, Najla Bouden Ramadan.

The opening ceremony of the congress was conducted in the presence of the Minister of the Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia, Moncef Boukthir. As the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative, the President of the Erbil Polytechnic University and the Presidents of the Kurdistan Regional Universities held a series of meetings with the congress participants the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister of Tunisia Moncef Boukthir and the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohamed Ayman Ashour.

In these meetings, the Kurdistan delegation exchanged views on the development of relations and collaboration between universities.

The congress is scheduled to discuss several issues related to the education process in universities, especially in the post-corona period, which was the first congress of the union and discussed the impact of the spread of the coronavirus, which led to think about the use of electronic systems and greater attention to its use in higher education.

It is worth mentioning that Erbil Polytechnic University is one of the members of the Union of Arab Universities.

Six Lecturers Of Erbil Polytechnic University Participated In A Training Course On Labor Market Needs And Curriculum Development

Yesterday on Tuesday, the 14th of March, 2023, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with IREX International organization and in the presence of advisors and general directors of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research conducted a workshop. 70 university teachers from all governmental universities of the Kurdistan Region participated. This was the first training course that covered the subjects of the survey of labor market needs and the adaptation to the content of the curriculum which continued for two days.

In the training course six academic staff of the Erbil Polytechnic University have participated which lasted for two days. They were trained by the international experts from the IREX International Organization to lead the Kurdistan Regional Labor Market Survey Project and the program development.

Currently, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has implemented the program development project, for this purpose they required a scientific survey of the needs of the labor market, public and private sectors to redesign the outcomes of the educational process.

The project aimed to align the entire education and training process with the needs of the labor market and the direction of economic development, so that the university graduates can improve their skills to succeed in the competition for employment.

In a speech delivered on the first day of the course, the the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Consultant, Dr. Amanj Abdullah Saeed told the teachers participating in the course: “You will lead this important process and our work will be long and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will assist you to develop your skills in designing curricula in light of changes in the labor market.” 

Two Academic Staff Of The Erbil Polytechnic University Conduct A Training Course On Two New Laboratory Equipment In Germany

After the signing of a contract between the Erbil Polytechnic University and the Korek Telecommunication Company, two advanced laboratory equipment from Germany were provided for the (ICTE) Department of the Erbil Technology College by the company. On Wednesday, the 15th of March, 2023, two lecturers of the college began training on the equipment in Germany.

The laboratory equipment consists of (Communication System) and (Control System) manufactured by the German company (LN) and purchased by the Korek Telecommunication Company. Sivan Hussein Ali and M. Jabbar Majid Sadiq, a teacher at Erbil College of Technology, will be trained in Germany for a week. As a part of the contract, the Erbil Technology College lecturers Ms. Sivan Hussein Ali and Mr. Jabbar Majid Sadiq will be trained in Germany for a week.

Erbil Polytechnic University And Salahaddin University-Erbil Jointly Arrange An Engineering Competition For Students From Six Kurdistan Universities

On Thursday, the 9th of March, 2023, in the presence of the University Rector, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the President of the Kurdistan Syndicate of Engineers Engineer Omar Qarani, and the Dean of Erbil Engineering Technical College Prof. Dr. Ayad Zaki, the competition (Pervious Concrete) was held for students of six Kurdistan governmental universities.

After the welcoming speech by the Dean of Erbil Technical Engineering College, Prof. Dr. Ayad Zaki, the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harkidelivered a speech in which he said: “At the beginning, I would like to congratulate the organizers of this competition in the Technical Engineering College of the Erbil Polytechnic University. Ladies and Gentlemen, such activities are considered as another lesson for students or another way of studying. We as the Erbil Polytechnic University always support such activities.

When Dr. Rafah suggested the Competition idea, I supported her a lot. Fortunately, in March, which is the month of encouraging us as Kurdish Nation, they were able to hold this competition.

We hope that such celebrations and activities will continue. So, today we congratulate the students on the March occasions and performing the competition and wish them continuity.

I also want to express my warm gratitude towards the sponsors of this event and welcome the 22 groups from 6 different universities who have participated with us today. We wish them all success, I hope this competition will be another incentive to learn more about their sciences so that they can easily find job opportunities in the future and work in their field. Congratulations again and welcome.”

Then, the competition program began in which the level of the groups were close to each other. After successive competition, the Duhok University students group and the Erbil Polytechnic University students group could won reach top one and two.

The jury Committee of the competition consisted of: Dr. Bahman Omar Taha and Dr. Rafah Rashid Abdulmajid from the Erbil Polytechnic University and Dr. Dilshad Khadr Bzeni, Dr. Sirwan Khader Mullah, and Ms. Payam Ismail Abdulrahman at the Salahaddin University-Erbil.

It is worth mentioning that the competition was sponsored by the Kurdistan Syndicate of Engineers, Hendsteel Company, Forebridge Company, Car Group, Sika Company, RMG Company, and Build Tech.

Finally, certificates and awards were presented to the supervisors, judges, and the top one and two groups
