The Annual Festival of students of the Erbil Technology College was held in the presence of the University Rector

Under the supervision and presence of Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of Erbil Polytechnic University the fifth annual festival of second year students of the Erbil Technology College was conducted.

After the opening of the festival, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nageb Toma Bato, the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the Deans of the Erbil Technology College, Erbil Technical Administrative Institute, the Erbil Medical Technical Institute, the Head of the Future Regional Committee and a number of teachers, Employees, and students were present. They visited the sections of the festival and the works and activities exhibited were shown to the audience.

The Erbil Polytechnic University Rector congratulated the organizers, supervisors and students participating in the festival and wished them success.

His Excellency our University Rector emphasized on the products and handicrafts of students which should be reflected in colleges and universities and for this purpose encouraged the participating students to prepare some of their works as gifts to present them to the delegation and guests coming to universities and relevant parties to become familiar with their work.

The University Rector Participates In A Meeting Of The Minister Deputy Of The Higher Education and Scientific Research With The Rector Of The University Of Dundee Scotland

Erbil Polytechnic University Rector Prof. Dr. Edrees Mohamad Tahir Harki attended the meeting of the Minister Deputy of the Higher Education and Scientific Research with the Rector of Dundee University Scotland.

A delegation from the University of Dundee Scotland visited the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and met with the official staff of the Ministry.

Prof. Dr. Abdulfatah Abdulrazaq, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Deputy received Prof. Iain Gillespie the Principal and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Dundee and an accompanying delegation consisting of Professor Mohammed Al-Uzri, President of the Iraqi-British Employment Council; Jason Norris, Head of Partner at the University of Dundee, who is in the Kurdistan Region to carry out several joint scientific projects with several universities.

In a meeting where the Erbil Polytechnic University Rector, a number of Kurdistan universities, advisors of the minister and general directors, the Rector of Dundee University expressed his pleasure to visit the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kurdistan.

In his speech, the Minister Deputy of Higher Education and Scientific Research talked about the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UK, said: Our Ministry in the past has had the most joint scientific projects with universities and institutions in the UK you have had academic relations with your universities, so we want to expand these scientific relations and include various areas related to the development of the higher education sector.

“An important part of our work strategy is to expand the scope of technical and vocational education in the Kurdistan Region. In this context, we need to establish a direct and better channel with the Kurdistan labour market to benefit from the experience and capabilities of that country. The Deputy Minister also spoke about the Ministry’s plan to reform and review the curriculum of all departments of Kurdistan universities and said that the participation and coordination of the British experts will help in the success of this project.

At the end of the meeting, several scientific and academic issues were exchanged to further develop relations between the two sides.

A Meeting Was Held In The Presence Of All Three Rectors Of The Kurdistan Region Polytechnic Universities

In the Presence of the Supervision and Quality Assurance Institution of the Ministry of the Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Rectors of the Erbil Polytechnic University, the Sulaimaniya Polytechnic University, and the Duhok Polytechnic University attended a meeting at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

In a meeting where the three Vice Rectors of the Polytechnic Universities for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education and the Director of Quality Assurance were present the attendees discussed the (TVET.2) project which is supervised by UNESCO which aims to promot technical and vocational education in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in terms of programs, quality and internationalization of the strategy of polytechnic universities.

In the meeting, the Director of UNESCO in Iraq and the Director of the TVET.2 project  were present online, the participants of the meeting expressed their comments and suggestions on the development and further benefits of the project.

Erbil Polytechnic University and the World Creativity & Innovation Week– Iraq Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On Thursday, the 1st of June 2023, Prof. Dr. Edrees Muhamad Tahir Harki, the Rector of the Erbil Polytechnic University received a delegation of the Iraqi Innovation Council – World Creativity & Innovation Week (WCIW )that was consisted of  M.Sc. Zanyar Jabbar Rashid, the WCIW Ambassador and a member of the Innovation Council, Abdullah Salih, Shadman Karim, Rezhwan Mohammed, Members of the Innovation Council in Iraq–World Innovation Week, and the Rwanga Foundation President Abdulsalam Madani.

In a meeting where the Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, the Director of the International Relations Office and the Administrative Director of the university presidency were present, the Rector welcomed the guest delegation and spoke about the university’s strategy and plan. His Excellency said “We as Erbil Polytechnic University have focused on creating academic experts that are needed by the labor market in the Kurdistan Region. This is why, our university is well-prepared to be able to collaborate and support our youth, community, and the Kurdistan students particularly.”

 The guest delegation thanked the Rector for well receiving them and their hospitality and expressed their pleasure to work with Erbil Polytechnic University as the first university in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to jointly work to serve the society in general and Kurdistan youth and students in particular.

During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two sides, which included coordination between the team of Erbil Polytechnic University and World Innovation Week in Iraq by organizing and conducting any activities that encourage creativity and innovation such as: seminars and workshops in Erbil Polytechnic University.

World Creativity and Innovation Day was founded in Toronto, Canada in the 25th of May 2001. The project is now hosted by the University of Miami in the United States. World Innovation Day April 21 was officially recognized by the United Nations in 2017 to celebrate and encourage innovation globally. Events and activities in 160 countries will highlight the importance of innovation in life to address economic and social challenges and encourage economic growth in general.
